Folk games in school help pupils bound for root

In response to goals of “Building friendly schools and positive pupils”, “Preserving and promoting national identity”, etc, folk songs and games applied into schools have created a new vitality in preserving the national cultural tradition. Implementing the Ministry of Training and Education’s instruction on “Building friendly schools and positive pupils”, the provincial department of Education and Training has applied folk games and songs into schools with the purpose of helping teachers and pupils improve their awareness on traditional culture.

Tran Hieu, vice director the provincial department of Training and Education said that for children folk songs and games are one of factors nurturing their spiritual world and are a bridge between them and social living. Applying folk songs and games into schools not only is a mean helping them develop language, love, morality, solidarity but expands their awareness, homeland and natural love.

Over the past years, the provincial department of Education and Training has positively steered schools to apply folk games and songs into teaching. This deed is to keen on the goal of “Building friendly schools and positive pupils”.

In addition, applying folk games and songs into schools brings significant results, contributing to strengthen health, behavior skill and so on.

Tran Dang Nam, head of Di An town division of Education and Training assessed that common character of folk games applied into schools is simplicity, integration. Notably, most of pupils respond folk games and songs. Indeed, folk games and songs really contribute to educate pupils about Vietnamese cultural tradition.

Local schools have set out creative ways in building “folk game corners” for pupils. With traditional folk games, pupils enjoy games outdoor. In addition, teachers combine folk games into their teaching periods to increase pupils’ enjoyment. Thenceforth, pupils love folk games, increasing plentifulness of games in schools.

Moreover, healthy entertainment will help children raise enjoyment in study as well as create good virtues in material and spiritual living.
