"Following Uncle Ho’s example": Positive changes from awareness to action
“Taking the people as the root”, “Close to the people, respecting the people, serving the people”... have gradually become guiding principles in work, lifestyle and each decision made by Party committees, authorities, specific actions of officials and Party members. This is the remarkable result after 10 years of implementing the 12th Politburo’s Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 on “Acceleration of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle” in the Party Committee of North Tan Uyen district.
Affirming the role of setting an example
After the Directive No. 05-CT/TW was issued, North Tan Uyen district’s Party Committee promulgated the Plan No. 30-KH/HU dated October 31, 2016, on “Acceleration of studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle” to implement across the entire Party Committee. It directed and guided affiliated Party cells and committees, departments, Fatherland Front committees and organizations of the district to develop their own plans for studying and following Uncle Ho’s example. To concretize the directive, the district’s Party Standing Committee launched three models of “Following Uncle Ho’s example”, including “Friendly Public Office for the People”, “Close to the People, Close to the Grassroots” and “Self-Reflection, Self-Correction”. These were implemented throughout the Party Committee and have successfully built public trust.

Among the people, numerous examples of good deeds have emerged in building cultural quarters and residential areas, enthusiastically participating in humanitarian campaigns such as “When drinking water, remember its resource” and “The good leaves protect the worn-out ones”. Many individuals have voluntarily donated land for road construction, actively engaged in social activities, contributed to flood relief efforts, supported scholarships for disadvantaged students and promoted the development of civilized, green-clean-beautiful model streets and quarters, contributing to the widespread influence of studying and following Uncle Ho’s example in the community.
"Following Uncle Ho's example", key leaders from the district to grassroots levels have set a serious example by consistently cultivating and training themselves in political ideology, moral conduct and a practical, people-oriented working style. They have maintained close ties with the people, demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and exemplified compliance with the Party’s directives and resolutions as well as the laws of the State. Through the implementation of models and forums, leaders have met and dialogued with citizens, helping them opportunely understand and address the people’s legitimate needs and concerns, thereby strengthening public trust. The example set by core leaders has created a ripple effect, positively influencing the majority of officials, Party members, public servants. They increasingly comply with internal rules and working procedures, adopt a results-oriented rather than time-bound approach and many voluntarily work extra hours or on weekends to meet job requirements. Methods are being improved and officials are becoming more people-oriented, respectful and attentive to citizens’ opinions, serving the people with heart and dedication.
“Effectively fulfilling the responsibility of setting an example, especially among key leaders at all levels, has enabled the political system from the district to the grassroots to operate efficiently and increased public trust in the Party committees and authorities, thereby improving work effectiveness”, affirmed Vo Van Tinh, Permanent Vice Secretary of North Tan Uyen district’s Party Committee.
Creating positive changes
Assessing the outcomes after 10 years of implementing the Directive No. 05-CT/TW, Mr. Tinh stated that the Party, authorities and people of North Tan Uyen district have made significant efforts and achieved remarkable results. Through “studying” and “following” Uncle Ho’s example, there have been profound and positive changes in the awareness and actions of officials, Party members and residents.
President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology of “putting the people at the center”, his ethics of “diligence, thrift, integrity, righteousness and impartiality” and his working style of “words going hand in hand with actions” and “being close to the people, respecting the people and serving the people” have gradually become guiding principles in the work, lifestyle, and every decision made by Party committees, authorities, cadres and Party members. Over the past 10 years, more than 1,500 collectives and individuals across the district have been commended and rewarded for their efforts in studying and following Uncle Ho’s example. This serves as the most vivid evidence of the effectiveness in implementing the Directive No. 05.
To continue the successful implementation of the Directive No. 05-CT/TW and accomplish upcoming political tasks, the district’s Party Committee will continue integrating the directive into Party building and rectification efforts; raise awareness of the significance, role and importance of studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle as part of building a comprehensive, clean and strong Party organization, government and political system. The practice will be further tied to the development of action programs, work plans, patriotic emulation movements and mass mobilization campaigns, thereby inspiring dedication, national development aspirations, resilience and strength of the great national unity in building and defending the Fatherland.
