Food safety and hygiene reinforced on Tet

On the days near Tet, price of foodstuff sky-rockets constantly, owing to high increase on demand. Therefore, reinforcing management and ensuring food safety and hygiene in the upcoming Tet holiday are urgent problems for functional agencies. In order to assure food safety and hygiene on the 2013 Tet holiday, Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Nguyen Ngoc Hung (photo), vice head of the provincial Bureau of Food Safety and Hygiene about this problem. Could you tell about risks relating to poor quality foodstuff on Tet?Foods used for Tet holiday are often candies, candied fruits, dried foods and among others. Owing to the rising demand on foodstuff on Tet holiday, there are many risks relating to poor quality foodstuffs such as harmful chemicals and hormones used in food processing...So, what will the bureau do to ensure food safety and hygiene on Tet holiday?The bureau has spurred cooperation with functional agencies to inspect the quality of foodstuff and prevent trade fraud. In addition, the provincial People's Committee has set out decisions to set up 3 provincial-level inter-sectoral delegations in an attempt to inspect the quality of food safety and hygiene across trade centers, supermarkets, wholesale markets, production workshops... Accordingly, the bureau has reinforced promulgation on food safety and prevised some unsafe foodstuffs found out for people. In terms of production, the agency has launched disseminations on safe food processing on mass media and new legal regulations on food safety as well as increased treatments of poor quality and illegally imported foodstuffs. Moreover, the bureau has paid attention to surveillances at eateries, collective kitchens and foodstuff production and business makers during Tet. Overall, the work of inspection has been focused on issues related to the quality of food safety and hygiene through measures of controlling labels, business licenses as well as goods origins in a bid to ensure customers' health. What will the bureau do to solve drastically violations of food safety and hygiene?We determine and try our best to control closely the quality of food safety and hygiene for the sake of people on Tet.Do you have any advise for customers in selecting safe foodstuffs?Every customer should pay attention to selecting and processing foods. To prevent risks, they should choose products of prestigious producers and should not to buy foods with full of colors.
