Four conditions for foreign vehicle circulation

Vehicles of foreigners circulating in Viet Nam for tourism have to meet four conditions, according to the Government’s newly-approved decree.

Firstly, foreigners have to ask for permission via Vietnamese international travel agencies and their vehicles are allowed to circulate for no more than 30 days.

Secondly, they also have to apply for permission of the Ministry of Transport.

Thirdly, foreign vehicles must be left-hand steering wheel and less-than-9-seater passenger cars and motorcycles, registered in foreign countries with foreign number plates and have valid certificates of technical safety and environmental protection.

Fourthly, car drivers must have passports with at least six-month validity since the entry dates and valid visas.

The Decree also stipulates that foreign vehicles circulating in Viet Nam must be led by cars or mobocycles which are arranged by the travel agencies.

The Decree will come into force on December 25, 2013.
