Fourth jabs and COVID-19 vaccination for children 6 to under 12 years old given

From May 17th to 21st, the provincial medical branch will carry out a COVID-19 vaccination campaign, namely, first and second jabs for children from 6 to under 12 years old, and fourth jabs for people above 18 years. The vaccine in this campaign is Moderna.

For children aged 6 to under 12, the recommended dosage is 0.25ml/ dose/ child, children who are full 12 years of age or older has a recommended dosage of 0.5ml/ child. The interval between two jabs is 28 days and the same vaccine must be given.

Children who contracted COVID-19 must wait 3 months before they can have the COVID-19 vaccine injection. People, who receive the fourth shot, are 50 years old or older, or 18 years old and older having moderate to severe immunodeficiency, belong to the high-risk group of COVID-19 exposure, such as health workers, frontline officials, workers of industrial parks. The fourth shot must be at least 4 months apart from the third shot. People who contracted COVID-19 after the third shot should wait 3 months after having the disease.

During this campaign, more than 49,900 doses of Moderna vaccine will be given to these groups. The provincial health authorities prioritize the second shot injection for children who have enough 28 days after receiving the first shot. A person who is infected with SARS-CoV-2 or has a history of close contact with COVID-19 infection within 10 days, or who is sick, feverish, has symptoms of respiratory tract infection during this campaign.

Up to now, the province has injected people with more than 6.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, of which more than 57,700 doses have been given to children aged 5 to 11, more than 278,000 doses to children aged 12 to 17 years, and more than 6.2 million doses to people aged 18 and over.
