French conductor and pianist David Greilsammer will host a concert tour across Vietnam, starting in Ho Chi Minh City on June 18.
The concert, titled “Un Vogaye avec Satie” (A Journey with Satie), will highlight piano compositions by great French composer and pianist Érik Satie (1866 – 1925).
Greilsammer will perform Gymnopédie No 1, 2 and 3 composed in 1888, Gnossienne No. 1, 2 and 3 in 1890, and Pièces Froides (Cold Rooms) No. 1 and 2 in 1897.
He will also present masterpieces by the world’s great composers from the Baroque era to the present day such as Franz Schubert, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Mozart.
Greilsammer, Musical And Artistic Director of the Geneva Camerata Orchestra, has appeared as conductor and soloist with the greatest orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, the Radio France Philharmonic, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, and the Verdi Orchestra of Milan.
His most recent solo album, named Labyrinth, released by Naïve, has received more than ten international prizes.
According to a representative of the French Institute in Vietnam, the event’s organiser, the concert tour aims to introduce French classical music to music lovers in Vietnam, and offer them an opportunity to enjoy the finest performances.
In the past three years, Greilsammer has worked with Alliances Francaises and French Institutes worldwide in social activities to share the love of classical music with people from all over the world.
The pianist will continue his tour in Hue city in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on June 20, and Hanoi on June 22 and 29.
He will also offer masterclasses at the city Conservatory of Music on June 18, and the Huế Conservatory of Music on June 20./.
