Full of gratitude

Update: 25-07-2023 | 11:27:49

The war has receded, but the physical and mental wounds of the wounded, sick soldiers and martyrs' families are still present. Under the principle of "When drinking water, remember its source", all-level Party committees, authorities and people of Tan Uyen city have had many meaningful activities to pay tribute to the local policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors. These activities have contributed to helping the local policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors get a more and more stable life.

Joining hands to take care of policy beneficiaries

Determining that taking care of wounded and sick soldiers, families of martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers and revolutionary contributors is a political task and regular activity, Tan Uyen City has focused on prioritizing and mobilizing many resources to carry out care activities. Particularly, the city’s movement of “paying debt of gratitude” has developed in both width-depth and brought great results.

Tan Uyen city’s Military Command cooperates with Military Medical Hospital 7A to provide medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for policy beneficiary families

Since early 2023, Tan Uyen city’s People's Committee has completed dossiers and transferred them to relevant authorities for considering and settling regimes for 107 policy beneficiaries. The locality has granted 24,156 health insurance cards to all the local policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors; taken 52 revolutionary contributors and their relatives to concentrated nursing in Lam Dong province; provided regular allowances for 559 revolutionary contributors …

All-level Party committees and authorities of the city have always paid attention to taking care of policy beneficiary families’ material and spiritual lives. Every year, the city’s agencies and organizations such as the Youth Union, the Red Cross Society, etc. regularly organize free medical check-ups and medicine for policy beneficiaries. In addition, the People's Committee of Tan Uyen city has also directed relevant departments, units and localities to focus on timely settlement of complaints related to the implementation of regimes and policies for revolutionary contributors.

Nguyen Thi Kim Nguyen, Vice-Chairwoman of Tan Uyen city’s People's Committee  said that over the past time, in addition to implementing policies and regimes as prescribed, Tan Uyen city implemented support for revolutionary contributors to stabilize their lives via  such significant activities as repairing and building new houses, supporting economic development. Especially, during Tet and great holidays, the city organized delegations to visit and present gifts to revolutionary contributors to stabilize their lives. In the coming time, Tan Uyen city will further promote the socialization of taking care of war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' families and revolutionary contributors; raise awareness and responsibility of all-level authorities, sectors and the whole society to take better care of  revolutionary contributors’life.

Extending the gratitude journey

Spending more than 15 years in the army, participating in many battles in the fierce battlefields of the South and the Southwest border in the period of 1963-1979, Le Van Chach, a wounded soldier with ¾ grade in Vinh Tan ward, faced many difficulties after returning to the locality. However, thanks to fully enjoying the Party and State’s policies and the attention, encouragement and support of all-level authorities, Mr. Chach's family has gradually had a more stable life. Currently, he has a full material and spiritual life at the age of 77.

Whenever he had the opportunity to review the memories of fighting with the younger generation, remembering his fallen comrades, his heart could not help but recover. “Despite my declining health, I have many wounds on my body, I feel very lucky when being still alive. This is because many comrades fell down on the battlefields in the past. Every holiday, Tet, I'm excited when reviewing the nation's heroic past, with the young generation and then being visited by the local government. I take that as a motivation to live well with my children and grandchildren”, Chach confided. Recently, Tan Uyen city’s Youth Union in collaboration with the People's Committee of Hoi Nghia Ward and other donors has awarded VND 45 million to implement a work on "Repairing houses for policy families" for the household of Nguyen Thi Khoe, martyr’s mother living in quarter 3. After 2 months of being upgraded, the house has been completed so far. With the cooperation of the government, mass organizations and society, her family will soon stabilize their life and get a spacious place of worship.

In these days of July, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Tan Uyen city have carried out many practical tasks to show their affection and responsibility to policy families and revolutionary contributors. That is not only the responsibility, but also the gratitude of today's generation for the generations that have sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom.

Tan Uyen city has 297 mothers conferred and posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother by the State, 4 of whom are still alive; 186 wounded soldiers, people who enjoy the same policy as wounded soldiers; 40 sick soldiers; 43 resistance activists and resistance activists' offspring who were contaminated with toxic chemicals; 72 policy beneficiary families enjoying monthly allowances; 153 revolutionary contributors; 31 revolutionary activists imprisoned by the enemy; 359 resistance activists enjoying a one-time payment under the decisions of the Government…
