Update: 05-07-2011 | 00:00:00

Nguyen Ngoc Thuc, 27, in the HCMC’s Cu Chi district-based Thanh Tay commune has built a dove raising farmstead with 1,000 dove couples. The model has created a big income for him.

Creating models

Thuc’s Ngoc Dien farmstead is located amid an immense paddy field. In 2008, he started raising 400 couples of French-racing pigeons after a random access into a webpage. He arrived at Vung Tau to purchase the French-racing pigeons. Initially, owing to shortage of experience, he faced diseases in pigeons and managed to treat for them.

His pigeon herd has so far been under stable development. The French-racing pigeons are bigger than other racing ones and give a high economic value.

According to Thuc, pigeon has a good resistance and is easy for breeding. Mother pigeons often lay eggs twice a month with about 9 chick couples. A mother pigeon can lay eggs for about 6 years.

A new model of making wealth

On average, his farmstead has offered about 600-700 pigeon couples with a price of VND110,000 per couple. Besides, he has purchased pigeons from neighboring households to meet clients’ demand. After deducting expenses, Thuc collects over VND50mil per month.

His farmstead often welcomes visitors who want to learn about pigeon raising and purchase breeding pigeons. In addition, he does not worry about output for his products, owing to big demand.

Grasping the increasing demand, he has invested in other farmstead with about 1,500 pigeon couples.
