“Good farmers in production and business” movement gets pervasive

The local emulation movement of “good farmers in production and business” achieved many results over the past years. 2021 was greatly affected by Covid-19 pandemic. But, the movement promptly encouraged the local farmers to enthusiastically emulate, thereby contributing to reducing poor households, increasing rich ones, affirming the position of the local agricultural and rural economy.

Effectiveness

There were many farmers daring think, daring do, being determined to explore, experiment and multiply new seedlings such as the models of raising crickets, porcupines, wild boars, growing mushrooms, ornamental creatures... from the movement. The movement also created a driving force for the local farmers to actively transform their production structure towards urban and high-tech agricultural models, contributing to changing production thoughts. In addition, the movement contributed to promoting the establishment of farms with high economic efficiency. Up to now, the province has had 643 farms with a total production area of over 3,450 hectares, more than 2,400 regular employees. Many farms have reached the annual revenue of billions of dong.

In the period of 2019-2021, the number of members and farmers registering for the title of good farmer in production and business at all levels reached 38,680 households, accounting for 87% of total. The quality and efficiency of the movement has been increasingly improved with many households having large production scale, capital of tens of billions of dong, annual income from several hundreds of millions to tens of billions dong, contributing to offering jobs to hundreds of the local workers. Compared to the period of 2017-2019, there was a twofold increase in the number of the local households with the annual income of over VND 300 million. The number of households with the annual income of over VND1 billion increased by 3 times.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Farmers' Association said that the above results came from the sound guidelines and policies of the Party and State, the attention and direction of the Vietnam Farmers ‘Association and provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and departments, sectors and localities. Good farmers in production-business at all levels have taken the lead, serving as the core of the movement, which is the decisive factor in success for sustainable development, greatly contributing to the local socio-economic development. Provincial Farmers ‘Associations at all levels have actively supported farmers to access preferential loan sources for production. Up to now, they have helped more than 23,000 farming households get over VND 1.1 trillion in loan.

Billionaire farmers

Many outstanding farmers have emerged from the movement with the will and determination of overcoming difficulties to get rich. They are Dinh Ngoc Khuong with the model of breeding chickens in Phu Giao district; Nguyen Hong Quyet with the model of growing netted muskmelons in Phu Giao district; Nguyen Thanh Thuy with the model of planting green-skinned pomelos in Bau Bang district; Le Minh Sang with the model of growing green-skinned pomelos under VietGAP standards in North Tan Uyen district …

The model of raising swallows from Tang Thi Hang in Phu Giao district’s An Long commune has brought high economic efficiency to her family. She has so far developed 2 more swallow houses, bringing her total number of swallow houses to 6. In addition, she has also expanded the model of raising rabbits in the garden, applied sci-teach advancements in tending durian gardens. She said that her farm has a total area of more than 10 hectares, including 7 hectares of rubber trees under exploitation, 2 hectares of newly planted rubber trees and the remaining 1 hectare for other crops in combination with raising rabbits in the garden with the annual income of more than VND1billion. She has boldly applied sci-tech advancements in agricultural production, helping stabilize and improve the life of her family. With valuable experience and accumulated capital, she is also ready to help other farming households develop their economy and stabilize their lives.

These models are increasingly upheld their efficiency with high economic value, ensuring the supply of clean agricultural products to the market, contributing to protecting consumers’ health. They are outstanding farmers in overcoming difficulties to rise up, get rich legitimately on their own land, creating jobs for many local workers, contributing to the local socio-economic development. In addition, many good farming households have established small and medium-sized enterprises or cooperative groups and cooperatives in order to link, expand, and increase production scale and business efficiency.

The local emulation movement of “good farmers in production and business” has greatly contributed to the local hunger eradication and poverty reduction, improving the material and spiritual lives of the local farmers. It has also contributed to promoting socio-economic development; building cultural lifestyle, ensuring social order and safety in residential areas, creating a driving force for the local new-style rural construction.

Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee: Over the past 3 years, officials, members of provincial Farmers ‘Association together with farmers of the whole province overcame all difficulties and challenges, contributing to maintaining stability and continuing promoting the local socio-economic development in the current period. The Standing Board of provincial Farmers' Association needs to continue implementing goals on socio-economic development under the Resolution of the provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure and the Resolution of the Farmers' Associations at all levels for the 2018-2023 tenure with more specific, practical and effective programs and projects; propagandize and multiply typical advanced models, advise authorities on creating many preferential loam sources for farmers to develop production, coordinate with relevant units to give training on sci-tech advancements; carry out digital transformation, rural economic restructuring, improve the operational quality of linkage groups, cooperative groups and cooperatives.
