Grassroots trade unions take care of worker’s spiritual life

Taking care of material life of workers is a beautiful gesture expressing the concern and sharing of authorities to laborers. This activity has been more and more pervasive, attracted the attention and support of the entire society, motivating the spirit of labor force to overcome difficult circumstances, make long-term commitment to Binh Duong.

Organization of movements

Understanding worker’s demand for recreational activities after hard working hours, grassroots trade unions often organize movements. Namely, the contest of creative fashion and workers’ singing of Winning Garment Embroidery Company’s Trade Union attracted many worker participations and gave many beautiful impressions to labor force. Hoang Van Toan, Trade Union President of Winning Embroidery Garment Company, said: "With the purpose of improving worker’s spiritual life, every year, Trade Union and Directors’ Board of the company organize many practical activities, such as sports, culture and art, lucky draw...  in order to lift workers’ spirit at work, improve productivity, facilitate business growth, contributing to ensure a harmonious labor relation in the company.

Chan Phong Wood Company kicked off a football tournament for company workers. This football tournament has become the company's annual activity. This was a chance for workers to exercise and for business leaders to listen to worker’s aspirations, thereby adjusting the management to a good way. In addition, many other enterprises organized cultural exchanges, sports among factories to strengthen solidarity and enthusiasm within their organization.

To exercise following Uncle Ho's great example, recently, Trade Union of Hantex Vina Company has opened a workers’ sports event. This was a movement competition for male and female football teams in the company. The tournament has been hosted many times and was supported by many workers. It was a playground, a chance for exchanges of physical training among labor force. Nguyen Van Trieu, a worker of the company, said: "After working days, workers need a healthy playground for singing, enjoying music, playing sports, or meeting friends. Therefore, workers are looking forward for more cultural, sports activities.

Improving the quality of spiritual life

To create healthy playgrounds for youth union members, young workers, trade unions at all levels organized cultural and sports activities with various contents, such as singing contests, sports competitions, football tournaments… A cooking contest themed "Warm meals for workers" among enterprises created solidarity, sharing of love between business management and workers. This was a chance for workers and business owners to exchange and share their difficulties in life as well as in production in order to help them understand each other and build more prosperous businesses.

Trade Unions also collaborated with employers to give thousands of gifts to workers. A program named "Spring buses" presented tickets to more than 3,000 poor workers to return home on Tet holidays. Many grassroots trade unions set up activities to care for labor force, such as construction of childcare centers, milk storage booths for female workers, shops, supermarkets serving essential goods with low prices, supervision of mid-shift meals...

At present, there are 9 organizations investing in childcare centers for worker’s children with 2 to 10 classes, 25-40 children/class. An example is 28-7 Kindergarten has opened and takes care of worker’s children in Ben Cat industrial park. Activities of "mutual affection", social charity among labor force continued to be broadened. Particularly, provincial Labor Confederation directed grassroots trade unions to implement the project "Building cultural life of workers in industrial zones"; organized many recreational activities, cultural art and sports activities for labor force.
