Great expectations from WTA summit 2018

The World Technopolis Association (WTA) summit 2017 takes place in the southern province of Binh Duong today, October 10. The event is co-held by Binh Duong province and South Korea’s Daejeon city to mark the 20^th anniversary of the WTA.

This is a very important event for Binh Duong, aiming to share experience on development of sustainable scientific cities and management of scientific cities around the world while helping the province get access to advanced technologies for socio-economic development.

The WTA summit 2018 is also a chance for Binh Duong to increase its international co-operation, promote its brand and attract more FDI, thereby contributing to developing its smart city plan.

In March, 2016, Binh Duong officially announced the start of its smart city plan. The plan to develop Binh Duong smart city in the period of 2016-2021 focuses on four areas, including human, technology, business community and infrastructure, and living and working environments.

In recent years, Binh Duong has gained vigorous strides in socio-economic development and smart city building. During its urban development program, Binh Duong defined that Binh Duong new city is the central city of the province, supporting satellite cities in the region, contributing to ensuring the harmony between urban areas to enhance the quality of people’s life.

In the current context, building Binh Duong into a smart city is very fresh with challenges and opportunities, in which human resource is now a great challenge. But, with a consistent strategy, the province can completely open up a new page on socio-economic growth at people and businesses’ needs and hosting the WTA summit 2018 is a chance for Binh Duong to move towards hi-tech industry and gradually become a scientific city, a smart city, a worthy-living city…
