Great national unity festival strengthens great national unity bloc

The founding day of the National United Front of Vietnam - Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on November 18 every year has become an important event in the political, cultural and spiritual lives of the people of the whole country. This is also an opportunity for residential areas to simultaneously organize the Great National Unity Festival, vividly demonstrating the connection between neighborliness and attachment to the Party's will and the people's hearts. On this occasion, Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Nguyen Thi My Hang, Chairwoman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee about the contents and plans on the organization of the great national unity festival in residential areas in the province.

- Could you tell us about the purpose and meaning of organizing the great national unity festival in residential areas?

- The great national unity festival is an extensive political activity within the entire Party and people. The festival aims at diversifying operational methods, gathering a large number of people from all strata, building and strengthening the great national unity bloc. The festival in residential areas has upheld the tradition of solidarity and patriotic emulation of people from all strata, striving to realize socio-economic goals, contributing to consolidating and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc and improving the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the new era.

The festival is also an opportunity to review the traditions and patriotism of the nation, upholding the glorious traditions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front over periods; promote propaganda among people to implement the Party's guidelines, policies, the State's policies and laws on the great national unity, the role, position and tasks of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland. This is also an opportunity for leaders of the local Party Committees, authorities and Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to meet and exchange with people, together evaluating the results of implementing the campaign of "All people uniting to build civilized urban, new-style rural areas”, creating solidarity and attachment...

Based on the guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on organizing the great national unity festival, provincial Fatherland Front Committee has annually guided Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to organize the festival in accordance with the conditions, characteristics and situations of localities, ensuring that the activities of the festival take place meaningfully, practically and this is truly a great festival for all people in the province.

- How has provincial Fatherland Front Committee implemented a plan on the organization of this year's festival?

 - As planned, all residential areas in the province will hold the great national unity festival from November 3 to 18. Priority is given to organizing the festival on Saturdays and Sundays so that leaders and people from all strata can attend them fully. As usual every year, the festival's content still basically consists of 2 parts: ceremonies and entertaining activities.

The ceremonies include activities such as reviewing the glorious traditions of the National United Front of Vietnam, evaluating the results of implementing the campaign "All people uniting to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas",  the movement of "All people uniting to build cultural lifestyle", provincial Party Committee’s Project No.02 on "Mass mobilization work to participate in building cultural and civilized lifestyle in the period of 2021-2025"; praising and rewarding outstanding collectives, families and individuals in implementing the local campaigns; organizing registration of tasks and projects to welcome Fatherland Front Congresses at all levels...

On this occasion, provincial Mobilization Boards for the Fund for the Poor at all levels will also donate gifts worth more than VND 5 billion to households with extremely difficult circumstances; coordinate with provincial Red Cross Society and socio-political organizations to mobilize organizations, individuals to give meaningful gifts for workers and members with difficult circumstances...

The entertaining activities, including folk games, “Great Solidarity Meal” contests, cultural-sports exchanges, are organized by the Fatherland Front and member organizations in coordination with the local authorities, Front Working Committees and people in residential areas... In addition, residential areas also mobilize people to participate in making environmental sanitation, planting and tending trees, decorating quarters, hamlets’ offices where the festival is organized; organize gift visits to the local policy beneficiary families, revolutionary veterans cadres, Fatherland Front cadres over periods and disadvantaged households; donate “great unity” houses to poor households...

 - What are new features in the organization of this year's great national unity festival?

- This year, the festival is held at a time when provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have just reviewed 20 years of organizing the great national unity festival from 2003 to 2023. This has important meaning and is a condition for units to choose the most effective and practical content and form of organizing the festival through 20-year experience of organizing it. In addition, this year's festival takes place at a time when provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and member organizations are enthusiastically competing to celebrate Fatherland Front congresses at all levels for the 2024-2029 tenure. Therefore, at the festival, the local Fatherland Front Committees and organizations will also discuss and make registration to carry out at least one work such as building “great unity” houses, practical self-management models and movements in residential areas; organize competitions learning about the Vietnam Fatherland Front in association with appropriate types of culture, arts, sports... that meet the needs and aspirations of the people and suit the actual conditions of localities, creating consensus and excitement in the community...
