Green summer campaign helps Youth Union members get experience, contribute to society for matureness

During the summer youth volunteer campaign 2017, youths in Binh Duong made contributions to building civilized urban and new-style rural areas; got involved in dealing with issues on social welfare...The campaign also helped the local youths have more experience, make contributions to the society in order to grow up.

With the theme of “Binh Duong’s youths joining hands to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas”, this year’s summer youth volunteer campaign took place from June 1 to August 31, with many practical and significant programs, namely “Giving strength to exam season”, “Green summer”, “Red flamboyand”, “Pink vacation” and “Green operation”…

Right from first days of the campaign, the local youth actively got involved in activities on building civilized urban and new-style rural areas. Steering Boards of the campaign at all levels mobilized people, children and teenagers to have cultural behaviors in public places; made dissemination of building green, clean localities and units and launched a model of “nice street, clean pavement”; carried out urban rejuvenation, eradicated illegal advertising boards; propagandize how to prevent dengue fever…

Under the “Green operation” program, youths of armed forces, police agencies and localities made environmental hygiene; dredged in-field canals, carried out “lighting rural road” works…Students from schools also opened summer classes for children in remote regions; made legal consultancy and sci-tech transfer for people; took part in upgrading and building rural bridges, roads…

This year’s summer youth volunteer campaign took place on the occasion of the 70^th anniversary of War Invalids Martyrs’Day. Hence, the local youths organized a variety of “When drinking water, remember its source”, “paying debt of gratitude”, “For social welfare” activities. Accordingly, Steering Boards of the campaign at all levels provided free medical check-ups and medicine for 1,546 heroic Vietnamese mothers and policy beneficiary families; mobilized organizations and individuals to donate 2 gratitude houses worth VND160million to policy beneficiary families; upgraded 72 houses; carried out a work on youth flower garden following Uncle Ho’s teachings at Doan Thi Lien park… Many other significant activities were also organized during the campaign.

Nguyen Tan Dat, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union cum Head of provincial Steering Board of the summer youth volunteer campaign assessed that this year’s campaign vigorously upheld the voluntary spirit of Youth Union members. This was actually an educational environment for Youth Union members to make contributions to the community and mature. The campaign concentrated on significant works, contributing to building civilized urban and new-style rural areas; upheld the strength of youths in handling “hot” issues of the society at present like environmental protection, civilized urban construction, traffic culture…
