"Green Summer" journey

Update: 20-07-2024 | 12:19:40

The 2024 "Green Summer" volunteer campaign is underway with numerous vibrant and meaningful activities. These activities provide an environment for Youth Union members to learn, train, mature and contribute their youth to building their homeland.

Revisiting history

The July days of the youth in the province become truly meaningful with activities to commemorate the 77th Anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024). The hightlight is the journey to the "red addresses" of all-level Youth Unions visiting historical sites, preserving the memories of the heroic years when previous generations fought tenaciously for national independence, freedom and peace.

The Youth Union of Tan Uyen city organizes a journey on "Tan Uyen Youth - Continuing the Story of Peace" at the Vinh Loi Resistance Base Historical Site

Tan Uyen city’s Youth Union and Youth Federation has recently organized a journey on "Tan Uyen Youth - Continuing the Story of Peace" visiting revolutionary historical sites and paying tribute to heroic Vietnamese mothers and former youth volunteers in the city. During this journey, the city’s Youth Union officials and members offered incense at the Victory Monument of Ba Kien Bridge Watchtower in Thanh Phuoc ward, the Vinh Loi Resistance Base Historical Site in Vinh Tan ward and the Bung Cu Temple Historical Site in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward. Additionally, the city’s Youth Union officials and members also visited and extended best regards to heroic Vietnamese mothers and former youth volunteers in Thanh Hoi commune and Tan Phuoc Khanh, Vinh Tan and Hoi Nghia wards. In each visiting place, the city’s Youth Union officials expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of the heroic Vietnamese mothers and former youth volunteers in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

To help the youth gain deeper understanding and experience of the nation's revolutionary history, provincial Youth Union also organized journeys to "red addresses" in and out of the province. For instance, the Youth Union of Di An city’s Division of Natural Resources and Environment has just organized a return-to-the root journey to Ba Ria - Vung Tau province’s Dat Do district. Here, the Youth Union visited and learnt about historical monuments, memorial houses and offered incense, flowers and moments of silence in memory of the national armed forces hero Vo Thi Sau.

These journeys to "red addresses" and revolutionary tradition education activities organized by the Youth Union aim at fostering patriotism among young generations and helping Youth Union deeply appreciate the value of peace and independence, which were achieved through the sacrifices of previous generations. Therefore, each Youth Union needs to take responsibility for preserving and promoting the revolutionary achievements, continuously striving to contribute to building and defending a more and more prosperous and powerful nation.

Volunteering for community

The spirit of proactiveness and volunteerism among Youth Union members participating in socio-economic development is always actively promoted by the Youth Union, thereby fulfilling political tasks effectively. Over the past time, many activities to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas, ensure social welfare, national defense and security, especially in difficult, remote, border areas, islands, and areas with ethnic minorities and religious communities, were organized by all-level Youth Unions in diverse, rich and practical forms.

Last week, the Youth Union of Phu Chanh ward in Tan Uyen city coordinated with the Youth Unions of Thanh Hoi commune, provincial Department of Transport and Tan Uyen city’s Land Registration Office to organize a journey to “ the Red Address, Following the Hero's Footsteps" in Tay Ninh province’s Tan Bien district. Participating in the program, the delegation’s Youth Union members visited the border landmark, offered incense, flowers and listened to explanations about the Central Bureau of the Southern Region Historical Site. Subsequently, the delegation presented 110 gifts and school supplies, confectionary to disadvantaged children. This activity created opportunities for the Youth Union units to exchange work experience, learn about historical sites and support people in difficult areas.

The "Green Summer" volunteer campaign is currently being widely organized, spreading with many youth volunteer activities, ensuring social welfare and community life. Provincial Youth Unions at all levels are organizing activities such as donating blood, caring for and supporting policy families, disadvantaged families, organizing digital transformation volunteer teams to communicate and popularize digital skills to people.
