Update: 01-10-2010 | 00:00:00

Clean tomato garden of Nguyen Van Dep in Ben Cat district’s Phu An commune.

Mr.Dung, a worker of Dep’s tomato garden, said Dep was used to be a motorcycle repairer in Thu Dau Mot town but after an advice of his younger brother in Australia, he started involving in a model of growing tomato by Australian technology on his 2ha land area.

After many times of defeat, he has stimulated precious experiences for production. On average, he harvests 200kg of tomato per day with a stable price of VND15,000 per kg. The clean tomato is suitable to local customers, owing to its quality and price.

Factor to decide for success of the hydroponic method lies in absolute separation with outside environment. Dung added that water supply system is “infected” into every foot of tomato trees directly. Notably, together with water, fertilizer is also dissolved with a proper level into water. His tomato products were displayed at a symposium themed “growing vegetables by hydorponic method”.

The model of growing clean vegetables by the advanced technology promises a potential market. Binh Duong gathers many laborers, so demand on food in general and vegetables in particular is very huge.

In addition, most of vegetables and fruits on the local market are imported from localities of Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh…, however there are no any trademark of safe vegetable and fruit. Hi-tech agriculture is considered as a factor to create an advanced and sustainable agriculture, so the mentioned farm is essential for expansion in the province.
