Nguyen Thanh Phu, Secretary of Long My communal Party Committee of Giong Trom district in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre said that the main income of people in the commune today is based on agriculture, mainly growing coconuts and citrus fruit trees. The province's young intellectuals give 500 breeding chickens to Long My communal Youth Union

Coming to Long My commune, Binh Duong's young intellectuals not only shared their experience in animal husbandry and cultivation, but also give livelihoods to people for economic development. Accordingly, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, a young good producer of the province,  who used to win the Luong Dinh Cua award, donated 500 breeding chickens to disadvantaged households in the area. She also guided households how to raise chickens under high-tech models. On this occasion, representative of the Binh Duong Elephant brand also supported 1,000 mushroom embryos, 2 tons of biological fertilizer and detailed instructions on how to grow mushrooms for locals.

On the 2nd working day in Ben Tre, Ben Tre province’s Youth Union and Binh Duong province’s young intellectuals held a talk show on applying sci-tech advancements into the local resources. Participating in the program, 100 local Youth Union members and farmers heard Vu Diep Hoang Thuong, an expert from the Office of Binh Duong provincial Department of Science and Technology introducing about Binh Duong provincial Startup Support and Community Initiative Center (BIIC); heard solutions and policies to support rural youths in business startup presented by Ben Tre provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development while being shared experience in high-tech agricultural production from Binh Duong.

On the last day of the campaign, more than 100 people in Long My commune participated in digital transformation training by selling goods on social networking applications. They were also guided to operate and sell goods on Postmart.vn e-commerce platform by Do Ngoc Chi, Deputy Head of Binh Duong provincial Post Office’s Planning- Business Department.

According to Mr. Phu, the sharing of experience and transfer of sci-tech advancements in cultivation and animal husbandry from young intellectuals have had a significant impact on the thinking and farming habits of the local farmers, helping them open up new opportunities and directions to develop homebased business towards the local economic development.

Lots of meaningful works

Although taking place in a short time, the Youth Volunteer Summer Campaign of the Binh Duong province’s young intellectuals has left many good impressions on the land and in the hearts of the people of Ben Tre. In addition to activities transferring sci-tech advancements, the squad launched propagandized and mobilized people and small traders to carry out digital transformation, non-cash payment and install VNeID. The squad organized a training session on prevention of accidents, injuries, drowning, teamwork skills, creative thinking in young people; coordinated with relevant units to organize a program on “Exchanging plastic waste for learning tools, for trees" and a model of "Mobile library", children's playground...

The volunteers also propagandized environmental protection and response to climate change; donated water purifiers to 5 households in need of clean water; offered 5 sets of computers to Long My commune’s Community Learning Center; carried out the construction of the "bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe - civilized" streets, installing 10 solar light bulbs; cleaned up the environment; engaged in social welfare activities, visited and offered gifts to policy beneficiary families, heroic Vietnamese mothers...

Nguyen Thanh Thao, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that provincial young intellectual squad include 30 members who are outstanding Youth Union members in the fields of science, technology, technology transfer, digital technology, examples in good production-business with skills in Youth Union work. The squad brought their youth strength, knowledge and voluntary spirit to difficult areas of Giong Trom district in Ben Tre province with many significant projects and tasks implemented. In addition to such activities as supporting livelihoods, domestic animals and nurslings, transferring and applying sci-tech advancements to the local agriculture and rural areas, the squad also donated resources to the locality, contributing to implementing social welfare, preserving and upholding the tradition of "paying debt of gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source"...
