Hallmarks of "Exemplary veterans" movement

With the prestige and responsibility of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, veterans and members of provincial Veterans' Association have effectively carried out the "Exemplary Veterans" movement for the 2019-2024 period. This ongoing emulation movement aims at upholding the pioneering, exemplary nature, intelligence and effort of each veteran and member towards the overall development of the province.

Building up cultural-civilized lifestyle

In Thuan An city, implementing the "Exemplary Veterans" movement for the 2019-2024 period, provincial Veterans ‘Associations at all levels have undertaken specific actions that are close to the actual conditions of each locality, creating positive changes in the mindset and actions of officials and members. As they shared the criteria for civilized urban routes, veterans in Lai Thieu ward also talked about the responsibilities of pet ownership. The gentle, humorous and persuasive communication from the local veterans received support from locals. Without slogans or loud calls, they visited each household and met each person to converse. After each meeting, nods and laughter from both sides showed that the veterans' way of propagandizing " Public conduct code, building up polite and civilized Lai Thieu residents" has somewhat changed the local residents' awareness, contributing to enhancing the quality of cultural and civilized lifestyles in the ward.

In response to exemplary emulation, over the past time, the "Skillful mass mobilization" movement in building up a cultural and civilized lifestyle has been implemented by the city's Veterans’ Association through effective models and methods. The association has consistently had close coordination with the city’s Fatherland Front Committee to maintain the construction of cultural and civilized urban routes, propagandize and mobilize companies, factories, production facilities and households along the roads to avoid encroaching on the sidewalks, refrain from discharging wastewater onto the streets, dispose of garbage in designated places, participate in maintaining security, order and traffic safety.

Nguyen Phuoc Dat, Chairman of Thuan An city's Veterans’ Association stated: "Implementing the 'Exemplary Veterans' emulation movement, over the past five years, promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and practicing exemplary and creative themes, the city's Veterans’Associations at all levels united with determination to build the city's Veterans’ Association into an exemplary political organization. Over the past five years, the emulation-commendation work and the 'Exemplary Veterans' movement were comprehensively directed by the city's Veterans’ Association Standing Committee, grassroots Veterans Associations and leaders at all levels for thorough, synchronous and effective implementation. Officials and members deeply understood their exemplary responsibility in political, ethical and lifestyle qualities, excellently completing assigned tasks, contributing to building up a comprehensive and strong Veterans’Association".

Exemplary emulation...

Under President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Emulation is patriotism, and those who love their country must emulate" and "Those who emulate are the most patriotic", over the past five years, North Tan Uyen district’s Veterans’ Associations actively carried out the "Exemplary Veterans" movement in association with patriotic emulation movements, central, local movements and campaigns, thereby motivating members to complete political tasks, build a clean and strong association, contributing to the Party and people's socio-economic development and national defense-security goals.

North Tan Uyen district’s Veterans’Associatiion currently has 10 grassroots associations and 52 branches with stable operation. Over the past time, the association continuously innovated its contents and methods, building up a clean and strong organization, especially in successfully carrying out the tasks of building and protecting the Party, government, people and maintaining the local political stability and social order. Over the past five years, the district’s Veterans’ Association has mobilized, coordinated, trained, visited models and guided members to lead in restructuring crops and livestock. The district has one enterprise headed by a veteran, 21 farms, 2 cooperatives led by veterans and 13 service business households, providing regular jobs for over 500 workers. With the spirit of comradeship, helping each other in family economic development without interest, the "5+1" model of all 10 grassroots associations has mobilized nearly VND 600 million, assisting 29 poor members with loans.

Returning to their civilian life, veterans continue upholding the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, not only focusing on family economic development, but also actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to the development of their homeland.

In Dau Tieng district, officials and members of the local Veterans’Association have linked the "Exemplary Veterans" emulation movement with reward-emulation work. Over the past five years, the quality of the "Exemplary Veterans" emulation movement was improved, with reward-emulation work conducted methodically, with quality and efficiency. The local Veterans’Associations at all levels also tightly combined the "Exemplary Veterans" movement with central and local movements, including the national target program on building new rural areas. The Veterans’ Association branches of Long Hoa, Dinh An and Dinh Thanh communes built "Model Flower” roads. Many members donated land and plants valued at billions of dong for making rural roads.
