HCM City leader hosts delegation from Lao People’s Revolutionary Party

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai on July 31 hosted a visiting high-ranking delegation from the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), led by Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications Santisouk Simamlavong.

During the meeting, Mai said it is necessary to strengthen the special friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, particularly amidst the current complex global situation.

Affirming Ho Chi Minh City's commitment to being a proactive and pioneering locality in nurturing and enhancing the ties, he highlighted the southern economic hub’s desire to expand comprehensive cooperation with Lao localities, building on its successful collaborations with Vientiane, Champasack, and Savannakhet.

The leader called for further support from Laos to foster activities in trade promotion, economic cooperation as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges between Ho Chi Minh City and its Lao partners.

Expressing his joy with the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao Parties, States, and people, Simamlavong noted that this relationship, cultivated by generations of their leaders and citizens, has been growing stronger and deeper.

He praised HCM City's dynamic development and expressed a keen interest in learning from its experience in overcoming challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to achieve positive socio-economic progress.

At the meeting, the Lao delegation and municipal officials exchanged practical experiences and lessons in various areas, including healthcare system development, foreign investment attraction, health and social insurance policies, support for women, market development and price stabilisation strategies, business support, education quality enhancement, human resources training, urban planning, and judicial work./.
