Focus on innovation and quality improvement

To improve the quality of medical care, in recent times, Bau Bang District Medical Center has actively applied new clinical techniques to provide timely and effective emergency care to patients, significantly reducing the referral rate. With the motto "Hospital is home, doctors and nurses are family", the center’s leaders have focused on improving administrative procedures for welcoming patients, reducing inconvenience and waiting time for patients. Medical staff always uphold their style and working style, thereby creating satisfaction and trust from the population.

Doctor Mai Thi Kim Dung, Director of Bau Bang District Medical Center, said: “Recently, the center has focused on innovating medical examination and treatment activities, training young staff, improving the quality of medical services and putting patient satisfaction first. The center posts the hotline phone number in easily visible and crowded locations, and assigns permanent staff to receive hotline information 24/7. Departments and rooms provide a variety of patient support activities, implement the slogan "Patients come to be warmly welcomed, patients stay with dedicated care, patients return with thoughtful instructions". Medical staff are aware of the urgency to innovate working style and attitude as serving patients, identifying the patient as the center and customer to provide services.

As an area adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City - where there are many higher-level hospitals, the attraction for patients is limited compared to many other districts, towns and cities in the province, but with learning, improving skills and medical ethics, officers, doctors and nurses at Di An City Medical Center is gradually earning trust of people in the quality of medical care. Do Van Phu (65 years old), who lives in Dong Hoa ward, Di An city, is being treated at the center, shared: I'm old so I get sick often. Every time I get sick, I trust the doctors and nurses at Di An City Medical Center so I go to the hospital here. Recently, the center has made many changes to better serve patients; toilets, examination rooms, and treatment rooms are all very clean. The center's doctors and nurses are very friendly, caring, and take care of patients enthusiastically and thoughtfully."

A good transformation

With the goal of "Everything towards patient satisfaction", Tan Uyen City Medical Center also regularly improves medical ethics, implements well the code of conduct, and actively reforms administrative procedures from from hospital discharge payment to maintaining a letter box. The center also actively applies information technology to management and installation of internal network systems... This has created positive changes in the center's operations.

To improve the quality of medical care for the population, in recent years, the provincial health sector has increased the application of high technology in medical examination and treatment to keep up with advanced medical levels. Hospitals have invested and applied high-tech equipment and techniques, such as: endoscopic surgery, application of laser technology to medicine, microsurgical plastic surgery techniques, successful application of many interventional cardiovascular techniques to treat arrhythmias... Not only the higher-level hospitals, through the satellite hospital project, many lower-level medical units have gained high technology transfer, improving their reputation and professional qualifications, attracting local patients, and contribute to reducing the load on the medical upstream line.

Doctor Huynh Minh Chin, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Health, said: “Currently, medical facilities in the province always pay attention to implementing 83 hospital quality criteria, improving service, aiming at patient satisfaction. In particular, the units actively improve clinical and laboratory quality, issue guidelines for technical diagnostic and treatment procedures, and review, amend hospital regulations. Many hospitals have changed their instructions, reception better, hospital environment, toilets, and landscape are cleaner and more beautiful. The quality of medical care has made clear progress, contributing to patient satisfaction."

Provincial health sector continues to implement solutions to reduce the load and improve the quality of medical services. The sector clearly defines the tasks of medical facilities according to each professional level. The higher level focuses on providing services that the lower level has not been able to provide. The lower level improves service delivery capacity to properly perform its role as the front line in disease prevention and health care of the people. The sector also strictly implements the plan for interoperability and recognition of test results between medical examination and treatment facilities, and strengthens the capacity of the medical testing quality management system.
