Vietnam’s top player Nguyen Hoang Thien has climbed from number 145 to 135 in the latest International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings.

 

Thien’s improved position is a result of his glorious victories on October 8 in the ongoing open junior tennis tournament in Hong Kong, where he won the champion titles in the men’s singles and doubles events.

In the final round of the men’s singles event, Thien trounced Thai rival Koaykul 2-0 in 6-4 and 7-5 sets. He also joined Kevin Lam from Hong Kong in the men’s doubles to defeat Wong Hun Hun and Yeung Pal Long from the host country with a 2-1 score.

These wins earned Thien an additional 12.5 points to secure the 135th place in the (ITF) ratings.
