Honoring outstanding individuals in education sector

On October 23, provincial Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with provincial Study Promotion Association and Labor Union, held a ceremony to commend and reward teachers and students who achieved high accomplishments in the 2023-2024 school year at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center. Scholarships were also awarded to students who are children of workers under the "Giving strength to school" program for the 2024-2025 school year. The event was attended by  Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Head of provincial Party Committee's Propaganda-Education Commission and Honorary President of provincial Study Promotion Association, along with representatives from departments and sectors in the province.

Highlights

The 2023-2024 school year marked the fourth year of the education sector's implementation of the 2018 National General Education Program with the theme of “Solidarity, Discipline, Creativity, Continuing Innovating and Improving the Quality of Education and Training”. This year, the entire education sector is focused on executing the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 32 on continuing the fundamental and comprehensive reform of general education.

Provincial leaders award the certificates of merit to collectives in the education sector for their outstanding achievements over the past time

Overcoming difficulties and challenges, the entire sector achieved many remarkable accomplishments. Notably, Binh Duong’s high school graduation exam results over the past years consistently ranked among the top five provinces nationwide. Particularly, the subjects of Math and English ranked second for several consecutive years. The percentage of high school graduates gaining admission to universities also led the country for many years. Both teachers and students achieved outstanding results in national competitions, with many individuals and groups selected to participate in international competitions.

Specifically, Binh Duong won 42 prizes in the national competition for outstanding high school students, an increase of 11 prizes compared to the previous school year. The province also won one fourth-place award in the national science and technology competition. In the provincial high school competition for excellent students, there were 382 prizes, including 13 first prizes, an increase of 77 prizes compared to the 2022-2023 school year. The number of students admitted to universities and colleges in the first round reached 91.62%, with 365 students scoring between 27 and under 29 points, and 4 students scoring over 29 points.

According to Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of provincial Department of Education and Training, the "fruits" achieved today are thanks to the strong leadership and decisive direction from provincial leaders, along with the determination and unity of the entire education sector, and the support from other departments, sectors, local authorities and people across the province. "This is the motivation for the education sector to continue striving to achieve more outstanding accomplishments and further assert its position in the national education system", she said.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ha acknowledged and highly praised the efforts by managerial, teaching staff and students in learning, researching over the past time. "In the coming time, I suggest that the education sector continues proposing various solutions to improve the quality of education and training, with a focus on fostering key academic fields while reviewing and advising on policies and regimes for teachers in general and specifically for those who train excellent students", Mr. Ha stated.

Making dreams come true

With the view that education and training sector is a top national priority, the activities of Binh Duong provincial Study and Talent Promotion Fund made positive contributions to the overall achievements of the local education and training sector as well as promoting labor and learning movements and building a high-quality workforce in the province.

With the goal of ensuring that no student is left out of school, due to difficult circumstances, and with the desire to encourage the spirit of overcoming hardship, providing better learning opportunities for poor-but-excellent students, various sectors, organizations and the community have organized numerous activities to support students' learning. At the conference on October 23, provincial Labor Union, in collaboration with provincial Study Promotion Association and Department of Education and Training, awarded 200 scholarships worth VND 1 billion to students who are the offspring of workers.

Holding a "Giving strength to school" scholarship in her hands, Nguyen Dao My Ngan, a student at An Den Secondary School in Ben Cat city shared her deep emotions when receiving the scholarship. She promised to study hard to become a good student and not to disappoint everyone's expectations, and above all, to continue pursuing her beautiful dreams for her future. Tran Hieu, Vice Chairman of provincial Study Promotion Association said that provincial Study Promotion Association has respectfully acknowledged the sentiments and valuable contributions of agencies, units and individuals in the work of building up a learning society. According to Mr. Hieu, in the coming time, provincial Study and Talent Promotion Fund hopes that provincial leaders as well as organizations, businesses and individuals will further accompany, support and join hands in continuing writing the dream of going to school for students with difficult circumstances.

At the conference, Binh Duong provincial People's Committee awarded the certificates of merit to 28 collectives and 88 individuals, including outstanding teachers and students.  Provincial  Department of Education and Training presented the certificates of merit to 369 students who scored 27 points or higher in their university entrance exams. Provincial Labor Union, in collaboration with provincial Study Promotion Association and Department of Education and Training, awarded 200 scholarships worth VND 5 million each to students who are the offspring of workers. On this occasion, businesses and organizations also presented symbolic donation cheques to provincial Study and Talent Promotion Fund.
