Hope that homeland would become more prosperous…

The victory of the offensive in the spring of 1975 with the peak of Ho Chi Minh campaign was the most significant victory in the history of Vietnam. Today, after 40 years of liberation, former soldiers had the opportunity to talk about heroic days and expressed pride in wonderful changes of the homeland in new era. They also wanted to remind the younger generation to uphold revolutionary tradition of ancestors, build up a prosperous homeland.

When provincial Party Committee directed to liberate localities, we all launched the offensive. Namely, we carried out agitation and propaganda among enemy troops, reinforced our forces.

In addition, we launched the movement of making red flags, mobilized armed forces to surround, attack military posts, sent guerrilla forces to guide major armies.

After the "steel door" of Xuan Loc was opened, on April 29^th 1975, our force including 3 platoons and female artillery units conquered communes of Tan Hoa, Tan An, Vinh Truong. Morning April 30^th, we continued to attack and seized Tan Phuoc Khanh station, captured many enemies. Up to 9.30 am, our troops liberated all the surrounding communes, all people holding flags happily walked down the streets to share the happiness of national unification.

On the victory day of April 30^th 1975, as the South was totally liberated, the people were happy, excited. Then in the morning of the next day, thousands of people gathered in Di An district stadium to celebrate the national victory.

The victory of the general offensive in spring 1975 with the peak of Ho Chi Minh campaign’s victory was a tremendous victory of the people. We obtained independence, started to build up our country, brought a prosperous life for the people. Looking back to the country after 40 years of liberation, I feel so proud.

Hopefully, today's younger generation will inherit and promote good revolutionary achievements of ancestors, develop Binh Duong province. This is also a wish of us.

40 years ago, the atmosphere of last days of April was ardent, because of the offensive of our soldiers and people. At that time, taking charge of security works, I was present at most "hot" points and witness historic moments of the liberation.

On the arterial roads, such as Highway 13, our army and people were so excited, while enemies surrendered everywhere. I and many other comrades propagated, encouraged enemies to surrender to have the clemency of revolutionary troops.

Looking the homeland after 40 years of liberation, I can see an overall change. From one of the poorest provinces, Binh Duong has changed, due to innovated policies of the Party and the State, and creative leadership of the province.

I think that the change of Binh Duong province came from the consensus between the Party, army, and all people. This is the most valuable lesson that young people today need to preserve and promote.

I used to take part in many battles in southeastern region, like: battles of Phuoc Thanh, Dong Xoai, Phuoc Long, Binh Long. In historic days in the spring 1975, I was under the 75th artillery division taking part in the battle of Xuan Loc, Dong Nai. At that time, our soldiers very excited and believed in an inevitable victory.

This was the victory coming from the rational leadership of the Party, the promotion of the mass’s strength. As an inhabitant of Binh Duong province, I am very excited about great changes of the homeland, especially after the period of national renewal.

Veteran Nguyen Thanh, Dong Hoa ward, Di An town: A worldwide resounding victory

Mr. Nguyen Thanh was born in 1934 in the heroic land of An Dien, Ben Cat. He responded to the national appeal by joining the 4^th Company under Battalion 302 in the Southeast battlefield. After the time in Cambodia and the North area, in the beginning of 1966, he returned to the South to participate directly in the Eastern Economic Commission.  

Remembering heroic moments in the spring 1974, he said: “At that time, enemy was stronger than us in Di An. Thus the Party carried out propaganda, mobilized the mass. On April 30^th 1975, revolutionary atmosphere was everywhere in Di An. The victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign was a global resounding victory, a result of the long-term resistance, a crystalline strength of the national unity.

At the present, Binh Duong province is oriented towards a central city , Di An town is also on the development path. I am very glad that sacrifices of previous generations have been rewarded with the socioeconomic success of today”.
