Leaving the homeland of Quang Tri, Hoa had travelled to various localities seeking for jobs to escape poverty. Thirty years ago, he had his chance to witness people planting lingzhi mushroom in Long Khanh of Dong Nai Province where he worked as an apprentice.“Then, I wished that I could have my own work with lingzhi mushroom like they did. It was a good model to earn if you know how to follow the technical and disinfection requirements,” Hoa said.Getting married in 1989, he and his spouse tried to make ends meet. As they had money, they chose An Binh Commune as their residing place. By the beginning of 2000, they bought a land lot for house building and invested into pepper and rubber trees. After accumulating a relatively high amounts, Hoa started to build housing for lingzhi mushrooms by applying His experience with the working time in Long Khanh was not enough to help him get through failures. “It was sad as the economic status is zero and failure. However, I understood one thing that I should be more cautious. Thus, I read books and magazines and even saught out the other mushroom farm in Binh Duong Province to learn from them. I was lucky to find Minh Khai Mushroom Farm where they have supported me a lot regarding the planing technique,” said Hoa.Currently, Hoa has 12 houses for mushroom with capacity of 20,000 cores. Annually, he can sell 7 to 10 tons to the market giving him profit of VND 300 million a year.According to Hoa, so as to make the lingzhi mushroom grow in stability, technical knowledge should be assured.“It’s not hard to grow lingzhi if we stick to tight technical requirements. We should assure low light and humidity of about 80% in 35 days for harvest. The weather in Dong Nam Bo Region is very suitable in January to March and June to September, leaving the grace time for cleaning and renovate the planting and removing the wild fungi by sunlight,” said Hoa.Differing from other edible mushroom, lingzhi could be harvested twice a year; however, its value is higher.Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Chair of An Binh Commune Farmer Association informed that the model of Mr. Hoa can yield high income. In the circumstances of low rate rubber latex price, the model is considered as suitable for learning and following.Reported by Hai Yen – Translated by Vi Bao
