On behalf of overseas Vietnamese in Canada, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Sy Vuong Ha expressed profound gratitude to the ancestors and souls of revolutionary martyrs to build the country as today.
Ambassador Le Sy Vuong Ha emphasized that the overseas Vietnamese in Canada are always proud of the race of Lac Hong, build solidarity and overcome difficulties to have a better life, contributing to bringing fame to the nation.
With respect, the overseas Vietnamese and staff carried a thurible to commemorate the Hung Kings, as well as revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed for the Fatherland.
Apart from the thoughtful preparations of the embassy, many families brought traditional dishes they made themselves to offer to the Hung Kings.
After the ceremony, the overseas Vietnamese enjoyed traditional dishes together, such as “Chung” cakes, “Day” cake, spring rolls and steamed glutinous rice.
Around the world, many countries have rituals of ancestor worship, and worship of the founder of the nation; however, it is rare that all people, both throughout the country and foreign expatriates, consider themselves to share origins such as in Vietnam.
Over thousands of years of history, the Vietnamese people both domestic and abroad have set up to 1,417 relics to worship the Hung Kings; wife, children, commanders in Hung Kings’s periods; and organize the Hung Kings death anniversary every year to express gratitude to the ancestors.
This is an important opportunity to promote an invaluable, unique heritage, which has existed for thousands of years, to the world and it has been infused into the soul, emotions and becomes a moral tradition of the people across the country and overseas Vietnamese.
This is the first year the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada held the worship of the Hung Kings death anniversary./.
