On June 12, provincial People's Committee Office said that Vo Van Minh, Chairman of provincial People's Committee Office has just signed and promulgated the Directive No. 12/CT-UBND on strengthening the management, prohibition of the acts of hunting and catching birds, wild animals and fishing illegally by electrical impulses, chemicals and fishing gears banned in Binh Duong province” (briefly called the Directive No. 12/CT-UBND).

The directive specifies that the situation of illegally hunting, trapping, capturing and trading, transporting, holding and processing wild animals and aquatic animals, especially wild birds, is still common, increasing the risk of extinction of many types of wildlife in the natural environment, negatively affecting the ecological balance while bringing the risk of disease transmission to humans, cattle and poultry.

Provincial People's Committee Chairman has requested heads of departments, agencies, mass organizations and Chairpersons of the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to focus on implementing the Directive No. 12/CT-UBND. Particularly, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been ordered to direct the Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries, and its Inspectors to coordinate with agencies and units to strengthen inspection, prevent and strictly handle the acts of hunting and capturing wild animals and birds and fishing illegally.
