Huynh Van Nghe Award needs more writings about Binh Duong

At the 5^th Huynh Van Nghe Award ceremony, according to Vo Dong Dien, Chairman of provincial Culture and Art Association, there were  230 authors with 3,440 works about Binh Duong land and people in many cultural and art fields. The organizers required that works must reflect truthfully the life of a dynamic province, the socio-economic development of the province, stick to the real life, bring a breath of life to the art work. To assess the quality of content and art, the organizers established 7 juries including prestigious artists, researchers across the country.

At the end, the organizers awarded 3 prizes of prose, 9 prizes of poetry (no A prize), 6 prizes of theater (no A and B), 10 prizes of fine arts (1A, 1B, 2C and 6 consolation prizes), 10 prizes of photography (no A prize), 9 prizes of music (no A prize), and 1 prize of promising singer. 

Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the juries marked each branch of literature, fine arts, photography, theater, music…, and evaluated each genre. Poet Pham Si Sau, vice president of HCM City Writers' Association, made such comments about poetry: there were not many poem collections that have a good quality. There were just a few excellent poems, and few works reflected truthfully Binh Duong land and people.

Mr. Sau also said, the Association of Culture and Art should open more meetings, trainings for writers to exchange experiences, thereby, create more good works about the homeland of revolutionary poet Huynh Van Nghe ...

Musician Lu Nhat Vu, Head of the jury committee, said creating and composing needed impressive distinctions of a certain region. For example, writing southern folk songs must highlight southern harmony to come into the heart of listeners. He also assessed that there was a large number of works sent to the competition, he listened to hundreds of work, and hoped that there would be more good works about the beloved Binh Duong land.

Creating is the need of every human being, of each artist in the art field. Writer Nguyen Quang Sang said, writing was an essential need, it was like we could not stand if we could not write, draw, sing a beautiful melody… Just like that, artists keep writing, creating, offering what is true, what is good, and what is beautiful to life. Hopefully, the next award would have more excellent works about Binh Duong…
