Ignite faith and hope for disadvantaged children

Update: 28-10-2023 | 12:31:19

In recent times, departments, unions and localities in the province have done well their role as a bridge between "golden hearts" and vulnerable children. Support models and activities have truly become a reliable encouragement for poor children and children having particularly difficult circumstances; ignite faith and hope for a bright future in their hearts.

Provincial Children's Fund and benefactors support heart surgery for Vo Huynh Bao Ngoc in Tan Dong Hiep ward, Di An city.

Lives need to be shared

Accompanying Provincial Children's Protection Fund on trips coming to vulnerable children in localities in the province, we witnessed many difficult lives and children, who were born with many congenital diseases and needs help from society. One of them is Vo Huynh Bao Ngoc in Tan Dong Hiep ward, Di An city. Since she was born, Ngoc has unfortunately suffered from congenital heart disease and had three surgeries. Ngoc's family is a difficult household, her father is a seasonal worker, her mother is a garment company worker, but her income is low and unstable because she often has to take her daughter to hospitals for treatment.

Vo Quy Mau, Ngoc's father, shared: “Fortunately, out of the three times she had heart surgeries, two times Provincial Children's Protection Fund accompanied us and supported the costs, so the burden of my family was lessened. We would like to thank Provincial Children's Protection Fund as well as philanthropists who have cared for and shared difficulties with our family. Everyone's timely help has given Bao Ngoc as well as our family the strength to live."

Like Bao Ngoc, Phan Gia Bao was born into a family having difficult circumstance and suffered from a serious disease called nephrotic syndrome at the age of 2. Currently, he often has headaches, dizziness, swelling all over my body, difficulty moving and have to undergo dialysis every month. Currently, Gia Bao lives with his father and grandmother in Tan Thanh town, Bac Tan Uyen district. Gia Bao's treatment costs range from 6 - 15 million VND/month. All medical treatment costs for the child and the whole family's living expenses depend mainly on the father's unstable income source, the support of the local government and benefactors. Provincial Children's Protection Fund and benefactors recently visited and partially supported his medical expenses.

With the generosity of the community and the role of Provincial Children's Protection Fund as a bridge, not only in the cases of Bao Ngoc and Gia Bao, thousands of children have been receiving practical help from organizations, individuals with generosity to gradually regain trust and hope to overcome tough circumstances and live in harmony with the community. Nguyen Tan Trieu, Director of Provincial Children's Protection Fund, said that as a bridge between philanthropic hearts, in recent times, the Provincial Children's Protection Fund has continuously strived to mobilize resources from organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to take care of many children who are less fortunate in life. From that fund, the unit has coordinated with departments, unions, and localities to organize and implement programs, such as: Spring with children living in difficulties, long-term sponsorship for children who have lost family due to the Covid-19, heart surgery, Vietnam Stand Tall Milk Fund, happy noodles, cultivating aspirations, giving away bicycles …

Many meaningful programs

With the motto "Give children the best", together with the Provincial Children's Protection Fund, departments, unions and localities in the province have always listened and understood the needs of children, especially children with disabilities and in difficult circumstances. From the hearts of benefactors, thousands of poor children’s dream of going to school have been realized, smiles bloomed on their lips, many hopes have been rekindled, many warm homes shelter orphans... has been formed through meaningful humane programs and activities.

"Godmother - loving connection" is a program implemented by Women's Union of Bau Bang district over the past time and has brought positive effects, creating a strong spillover in the community.  Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of Women's Union of Bau Bang district, said that the program "Godmother - loving connection" was supported by 100% of the grassroots Women's Unions. Each grassroots union registers to sponsor at least 1 orphan until they turn 18 years old in many ways such as visits, gifts, scholarships, necessities, school supplies, bicycles, and medical insurance. In the first 9 months of 2023, WU at all levels mobilized and connected 22 mothers and 4 groups to sponsor 32 children by cash support, necessities, essential items, school supplies... on average from 200,000 - 500,000 VND/month/child. In addition, WU at all levels also create conditions for children to develop comprehensively in the family and community environment.

In addition, from the beginning of this school year, many poor and disadvantaged students in the province have been promptly and effectively supported by units, organizations and businesses to go to school. Thousands of scholarships, uniforms, books, stationery and hundreds of new bicycles were given to poor children. The local education and training sector coordinated with relevant sectors to reduce tuition fees and support learning costs for children of poor and near-poor households at schools in the province. In addition, the Provincial People's Committee also coordinated with departments and unions to implement many meaningful programs, such as: "Go to school with your children", "Fulfill your dreams", "Support to go to school"... These programs have a strong spreading power, attracting the participation of more and more organizations and businesses in the province.
