Igniting passion for football among young workers

For young workers, after stressful working hours, immersing themselves in exciting matches on the football ground is an opportunity for them to relieve stress, exercise and bond with the spirit of solidarity. Understanding that, during this year's Workers' Month, provincial Youth Union, Youth Federation, Support Center for Youth Workers have coordinated with the “Tuoi tre thu do” (Capital Youth) newspaper to organize the first Binh Duong provincial Men's Football tournament-the “Tuoi tre thu do” Newspaper Cup 2024.

The men's football tournament- the “Tuoi tre Thu do” Newspaper Cup, was held on Uncle Ho's birthday (May 19) in an atmosphere of joy and excitement of youth. The opening ceremony was held at Sora Gardens Links football field in Thu Dau Mot city’s Hoa Phu ward, with the participation of representatives of leaders of departments, sectors, mass organizations and a large number of young workers. The opening rituals were carried out methodically, helping amateur football players immerse themselves in the moments of a professional football tournament.

Nguyen Manh Hung, Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi tre Thu do Newspaper, Head of the tournament's organization board said: "Through the first Binh Duong provincial Men's Football Tournament-the Tuoi tre Thu do Newspaper Cup  2024, the Organization Board hopes to ignite love and passion for football among young workers while launching a movement on physical training and sports among them improving their health, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere and spirit of exchange, learning and mutual understanding, building solidarity and sustainable attachment among workers, serving production and labor activities more and more effectively".

The football tournament absorbed 20 teams, with 240 athletes, including Youth Union members and young workers currently working in businesses, participating in Youth Union organizations, associations and youth clubs in the province. They competed in the 5-player field mini soccer content, with the knockout form. They were divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D) and competed in a round robin to select 8 excellent teams to continue competing in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

After the opening ceremony, exciting matches took place. Amateur players contributed many beautiful plays to the audience. Nguyen The Quang from the Branch of Bau Bang Industrial and Urban Development Enterprise said: "Along with young workers in the Youth Union branches of the Bau Bang Industrial Park, I have participated in many football tournaments. When hearing the announcement that there would be a football tournament for young workers, everyone was excited to participate in. Not only having the opportunity to improve health and pursue my passion, coming to this tournament, I could also exchange and make friends with young workers in other units".

Nguyen Huu Loi, Head of provincial Youth Union Movement Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial Youth Union said: "Organizing a football tournament for young workers is a meaningful and practical activity to celebrate Youth Union congresses at all levels towards the 8th provincial Youth Union congress for the 2024-2029 tenure, thereby creating conditions for young people to have an environment to exchange. The organization board of the tournament will try to maintain the tournament annually and expand its scale. In the following years, it is possible that this football tournament will be not only for young workers in the province, but also expanded to others in the Southeastern region, helping them exchange and study mutually".

After a day of thrilling competition, the first Binh Duong provincial Men's Football Tournament – Tuoi tre Thu do Newspaper Cup 2024 officially ended. Finally, the championship trophy belonged to young workers of Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company. Second and third prizes went to young workers of Bau Bang Industrial Park and Thuan An city, respectively. The consolation prize went to the Youth Union coalition of An Phuong, Gia Hung wards...
