Igniting, promoting the strength of great national solidarity

The anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam National United Front, also celebrated as the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18), has become a significant event in the political, cultural and spiritual life of the people nationwide, including Binh Duong province. On the occasion of the 94th Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the National Great Unity Festival, Binh Duong Newspaper conducted an interview with Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee about upholding the strength of the great unity bloc in the region.

- Sir, could you share some insights into the traditions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) over its 94-year journey?

- National Great Unity (NGU) has been a tradition and an invaluable lesson for the Vietnamese nation throughout its history of national building and defense. Since its inception and throughout its revolutionary leadership, the Communist Party of Vietnam, founded and guided by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, has consistently identified unity as a core value, with "National Great Unity" being both a strategic direction and the source of strength and a primary driving force of Vietnam's revolution. NGU has become the Party's revolutionary strategy and a powerful catalyst for the nation’s monumental victories. President Ho Chi Minh emphasized: "Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success!"

On November 18, 1930, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party issued a directive to establish the Anti-Imperialist Alliance, the predecessor organization of today’s Vietnam Fatherland Front. Throughout various revolutionary periods with different organizational forms and names, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has continually grown and made significant contributions to the nation’s historic victories, becoming a decisive factor in the success of the Vietnamese revolution.

-The strength of the National Great Unity bloc has been instrumental in effectively implementing various movements and campaigns, most notably the campaign of “All people uniting to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas”. Could you highlight some key achievements of this campaign in the province in recent years?

- In recent years, provincial Fatherland Front Committees and its member organizations at all levels have consistently strived to fulfill their mission of strengthening, consolidating and expanding the National Great Unity bloc. One of the most notable achievements has been their proactive approach in implementing focused and targeted solutions to collaborate with Party committees and authorities in mobilizing people to successfully carry out numerous patriotic emulation programs and campaigns.  Among these, the campaign of “All People uniting to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas” stood out. This campaign was actively promoted, mobilized and effectively implemented by provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels through innovative models and practical methods in association with criteria of the Project No. 04 by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Project No.02 by provincial Party Standing Committee on “Mobilizing people to participate in building a cultural and civilized lifestyle for the period of 2021-2025”.

To effectively implement the campaign, provincial Fatherland Front Standing Committee developed and issued a plan for implementation; participated in provincial inspection teams that evaluated cultural titles in association with the movement of "All people uniting to build a cultural lifestyle"; distributed 69,500 leaflets and installed 20 propaganda panels. As a result, the province achieved 100% of communes with advanced new-style rural criteria; 4 out of 38 communes with model new-style rural standards and 50% of districts and cities recognized as new-style rural ones.

Additionally, provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels accelerated the implementation of projects and initiatives in celebration of all-level Vietnam Fatherland Front congresses for the 2024-2029 tenure, in conjunction with the campaign of "All people uniting to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas" and provincial Project No.02. The whole province implemented 849 projects and initiatives with VND71.3 billion, including four provincial-level projects executed by provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Standing Committee with VND6.35 billion. Furthermore, the Standing Committee collaborated with mass organizations to support the “Civilized Saturday” campaign launched by provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission under the theme of "For a civilized, green, clean, beautiful and affectionate Binh Duong" with activities, including cleaning up workplaces, maintaining hygiene in offices, planting trees to create green spaces, distributing gifts to poor households and those with difficult circumstances while promoting public participation in activities like “Urban Greening” and the movement of “Each person planting one tree, each household contributes one green space”. They also encouraged and mobilized citizens to sort solid waste at the source in the area.

-To enhance the role and prestige of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in building and consolidating the NGU bloc in the current period, what key tasks and priorities will provincial Fatherland Front Committee focus on, sir?

Upholding the strength of great unity, officials, Party members, armed forces and people across the province are jointly working to build a cultural and civilized lifestyle

- To strengthen the the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s core role in building the NGU bloc and to create significant progress in its position and role within the political system, provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Standing Committee has outlined several key tasks and solutions to foster the NGU bloc in the new context.

These include renewing and enhancing the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization efforts; understanding the people’s situation; upholding the strength of the NGU bloc in national building and defense; encouraging the creativity and self-management spirit of the people in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front; promoting democracy, gathering and reflecting the opinions and aspirations of the people; protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people; actively conducting social supervision and criticism; giving constructive ideas to strengthen the Party and government; focusing on caring for and promoting the role of exemplary individuals in society, including representatives of ethnic minorities, religious communities, intellectuals and overseas Vietnamese; consolidating the organization, innovating the content and methods of operation within the Vietnam Fatherland Front system, promoting the role of member organizations in mobilizing, uniting people from all strata …
