Update: 15-04-2023 | 16:48:09

Industrial development and being one of the leading localities in the country in attracting domestic and foreign investment capital has created favorable conditions for Binh Duong's logistics service businesses to develop quite quickly in terms of quantity and quality. The system of warehouses and means of transport is constantly being newly invested, expanded and upgraded to basically meet the requirements of goods circulation of enterprises in the province. However, bottlenecks that the province is trying to clear up so that the province's logistics industry can develop properly still remain.

The fast development

Binh Duong currently has more than 20 warehouses (bonded and CFS warehouses) and more than 30 customs agents operating mainly in industrial parks and existing river and ICD ports. The system of bonded warehouses, CFS and ICD warehouses is arranged reasonably, ensuring timely supply of imported materials to manufacturers and meeting the requirements of exporters, equipped with a modern management system by international standards.

According to Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs Department, logistics is currently one of the industries that domestic and foreign investors are particularly interested in. Investment projects in the field of logistics in Binh Duong are increasingly larger in scale, highly specialized, providing comprehensive and diversified services. Currently, units such as port clusters and logistics centers, ICD ports, Binh Duong port etc. have been making important contributions to promoting the province's economy to develop, especially in the field of circulation, domestic distribution and import and export.

Recently, Lazada Logistics Vietnam has officially inaugurated Lazada Logistics Park with the focus on the most modern high-tech goods sorting center in Song Than 1 Industrial Park. With a total area of nearly 20,000 square meters, a new sorting center capable of handling up to 1 million parcels per day and up to 99% automation thanks to a modern technology system including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning,  Vu Duc Thinh - Director of Lazada Vietnam, said that the new sorting center is not only a breakthrough in the development process of Lazada Logistics, but also an important step forward in the commercial logistics industry. e-commerce in Vietnam in general. Lazada Logistics will actively contribute to building a sustainable e-commerce logistics ecosystem, setting new standards and further promoting the overall development of the industry.

To create new impulse

At the recent seminar on "Developing logistics in the southern key economic region, and promoting import and export of goods", Dang Vu Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Logistics Enterprises said, Ho Chi Minh city and Binh Duong have many projects calling for investment in the field of logistics. In which, Ho Chi Minh city has 7 projects and Binh Duong has 5 calling for investment in building logistics centers. Investors can invest in all logistics sectors of Vietnam, except for two areas which are port handling services and inland waterway transport due to a required investment roadmap.

Assessing the logistics status of the Southern Key Economic Zone, Dang Vu Thanh said that the government has set a development orientation for the Southern Key Economic Zone to focus on manufacturing and assembling electrical products, manufacturing and processing industry, digital economy, banking and finance, and real estate. Therefore, the development of the logistics industry needs to go hand in hand with the development of the region and meet the freight forwarding activities throughout.

According to the draft plan to develop logistics services in Binh Duong province to 2025 with orientation to 2030 and with a vision to 2045, Binh Duong will become a satellite center and a place to gather goods with concentration on logistics services and production activities in industrial zones and clusters in the region to form a supply chain of goods from manufacturers to domestic and foreign consumption markets, promoting distribution to provinces or cities in the region, and exporting to foreign countries. In 2022-2025, 100% of large centers will reach levels above 5PL (ELogistics - Logistics on e-commerce platform). A system of ports is formed on Dong Nai River, Saigon River and Thi Tinh River connecting with Vanh Dai 3, Vanh Dai 4 including An Son port, An Tay port, An Dien port, and upgrading of Binh Duong port to meet international border gate container port standards.

However, in order to achieve the goal, there are still bottlenecks that need to be cleared to create an impulse for logistics to develop properly, especially transport infrastructure. In addition, the shortage of high-quality human resources in logistics is also a barrier. Therefore, in order for the logistics industry to properly promote its potential and strengths, Binh Duong is trying to implement many solutions. Specifically, the province focuses on investing in arterial traffic routes to ensure the smooth and fast movement of goods and logistics, reducing costs, and accelerating the implementation of the planning of logistics centers and inland ports connecting into reality in order to quickly form a satellite area for ports to move goods faster, training to improve the quality of human resources, improving the quality of developing the logistics service market, and increasing the application of new technologies in logistics activities.
