Update: 07-06-2024 | 12:33:54

A ceremony to launch the new customs clearance point in Thanh Phuoc Port in Tan Uyen city was held on the afternoon of June 6, marking a breakthrough in the development plan to boost the export and import of goods transported via inland waterways.

This event was attended by Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Mai the Trung, former Member of the Central Party Committee and former provincial Party Secretary; former provincial leaders, leaders of departments, sectors and localities; representatives of industries’ associations and import-export enterprises in the province.

Established in 2007, Thanh Phuoc dry port, located next to the Dong Nai River, can accommodate watercraft with a capacity of up to 3,000 tons. In late 2023, Thanh Phuoc port was announced as a dry port by the Ministry of Transport. On March 8, 2024, the Ministry of Finance recognized the customs clearance point for import-export goods established at Thanh Phuoc dry port, operated by Thanh Phuoc Port Joint Stock Company.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dung stated that this event not only brought practical benefits to the business community, but also facilitated faster, more accurate, convenient goods inspection activities, saving time and costs for businesses, promoting the shift from road to waterway transport, reducing road infrastructure load and limiting environmental pollution. He urged leaders of provincial Customs Department and Thanh Phuoc Port to continue upholding their sense of responsibility, directing relevant units to efficiently manage operations, ensuring reduced time and costs for businesses while enhancing the effectiveness of goods inspection, customs clearance and fight against smuggling and trade fraud.
