Update: 28-03-2023 | 11:40:20

Building a traffic culture right from the school environment is considered one of the important solutions in forming a sense of responsibility in each citizen. Therefore, in the past time, the propaganda about traffic safety in schools has been interested by the functional sector.

To equip students with traffic safety knowledge

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Public Security, said that in recent years, although the Traffic Police force has implemented many solutions to raise the awareness of students in the observance of the Road Traffic Law, some of them lack awareness when participating in traffic, which adversely affects the traffic situation. The common violations included not wearing helmets as prescribed, operating motorcycles at dangerous speed with recklessly overtakes, or carrying more than the prescribed number of people, entering forbidden roads, going in the opposite direction, obstructing traffic, having no registration certificate or driver's licenses.

“Many students have limited knowledge of traffic laws and fail to comply with regulations, rules, and signs, thereby, making it easy for them to lead to unfortunate traffic accidents,” said Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga.

Equipping students with knowledge about traffic safety is a matter that needs more attention in the future

In order to contribute to raising the awareness of traffic regulations for students, over the past time, the provincial Police has coordinated with relevant units to organize many propaganda sessions to popularize and educate the traffic laws, traffic order and safety at schools and localities. Recently, at Ly Thai To High School in Thuan An city, the Youth Union of the provincial Police coordinated to organize the program of Youth Festival with traffic culture under the theme of "Respect of the law to build traffic culture of safe communication”. At the program, the students and youth union members were guided by a reporter from the provincial Police on some basic contents of the Road Traffic Law, and be practiced and instructed in safe motorcycling skills.

Previously, in Bac Tan Uyen district, the district Youth Union coordinated with the Youth Union of the provincial Police, the Youth Union of Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company to organize activities to kick off the Youth Month 2023 with the practical contents combined in a series of activities at Le Loi High School. Officers and soldiers of the provincial Police organized propaganda on regulations on ensuring road traffic safety.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, the youth with traffic culture festivals are held to further improve understanding and awareness of law observance, traffic order and safety, as well as information for students and youth union members on good playgrounds providing more knowledge about traffic for the audience, thereby, gradually building a traffic culture for young people.

To combine propagation with inspection and sanctions

Building a traffic culture is to create a habit of civilized and lawful behavior, considering the self-discipline to comply with the law on traffic order and safety as an ethical standard and a civilized expression of the participants in the traffic. Therefore, building a traffic culture from the school environment is really necessary to build exemplary citizens for the society, contributing towards a safe traffic environment.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, building a traffic culture for young people and students in the current stage is a very important job that must be given top attention. “Over the past time, we have advised to develop and implement a plan to coordinate with the provincial Police with the Department of Education and Training on strengthening the propaganda, dissemination and education of the laws on traffic order and safety in educational institutions in 2022-2025. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen coordination with agencies and mass organizations in renovating propaganda contents and measures suitable to each age group, creating attraction and raising the sense of self-discipline to comply with the law on l traffic for the children. In my opinion, another important issue is the need to pay attention and increase responsibility in the coordination between the police, schools and families to manage and educate students to obey the law on traffic safety,” said Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga.
