Yesterday morning (April 26), provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the 49^th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024), International Labor Day (May 1) and the 134th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. Looking back 49 years, from a locality with a low economic starting point, Binh Duong has become a developed province with a high rate of industrialization and urbanization in the Southern Key Economic Region as well as across the country, creating many "unique- but-bold" marks in the process of construction and development.

The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, Chairman of provincial People's Council; Nguyen Thi My Hang, Chairwoman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Speaking at the event, Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee affirmed that Binh Duong is a land at the northern gateway of Saigon, with an important strategic position in terms of military and economy. This is a large base of ​​revolutionary forces in the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism. Despite being subjected to extremely barbaric and brutal repression by the enemy, with the resilient will, indomitable spirit and iron faith in the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, in the cause of national unification, the soldiers and people of Binh Duong under the leadership of provincial Party Committee heroically fought and won, establishing many resounding victories, embellishing a glorious tradition, forever remembered in history as forgettable marks and many valuable contributions to Vietnamese military art. Those victories contributed to breaking and crushing the will of the colonialists and imperialists’ invasion and changed the situation on the battlefield in the South.

During the 9 years of resistance against the French colonialists, the army and people of Binh Duong actively and proactively fought the enemy and caused them many heavy losses. To coordinate with other battlefields, from March 1954, Thu Bien provincial Party Committee launched a massive military attack on temporarily occupied areas, destroying every part of the enemy's forces, creating new momentum for the area behind the enemy. The victories of Ben Cat, Lai Thieu, Thu Duc, especially the victory of Cau Dinh were a raid combining military strength with internal response, the pinnacle of the 1953-1954 Winter-Spring offensive of the Thu Bien army and people, contributed to the victory of Dien Bien Phu.

During the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the army and people of the province launched an uprising to defeat the Saigon puppet regime, contributing to paving the way for our main troops on the offensive north of Saigon from Binh Duong, quickly attacking the last stronghold of the puppet regime, successfully ending the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country,  ending 21 years of resistance against the US and 30 years of fighting for national liberation. With great contributions to the cause of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Party Committee, army and people of Thu Dau Mot - Binh Duong were honored to be awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the Party and State in 1976.

In order to have the common joy, especially the joy of the great victory day of April 30, 1975, there was so much personal pain of families whose loved ones fell down, being ready to sacrifice their blood, bones and youth to adorn the glorious flag of the Fatherland.

Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee emphasized that looking back at the journey of 49 years after the South liberation, national reunification the country and after 27 years of separation from Song Be province, Binh Duong province has developed very strongly. From a locality with low economic starting point, Binh Duong has become a developed province with a high rate of industrialization and urbanization in the Southern key economic region as well as nationwide, creating many "unique-but- bold" marks in the process of construction and development.

This is an extremely necessary and important foundation for the province to further innovate, create and develop more strongly in the coming time...
