Snow covered many houses and trees in certain parts of northern Vietnam on Thursday as temperatures dropped to freezing levels.
It was zero degree Celsius in Sa Pa, a touristy town in Lao Cai Province, where there was a light rain, all rendering the climate to be frosty and greenery to wither.
Snow fell heavily in areas around the peak of the O Quy Ho pass at an altitude of 2,000 meters from sea level, stretching over five kilometers to the Bac waterfalls at a height of 1,800 meters.
Forest swathes, bushes, and other plants were enshrouded in snow so thick that it broke large branches in the surrounding areas.
Roads in the vicinity became slippery, worsened by dense fog limiting visibility, so vehicles flashed all their lights to ensure travel safety in daytime.
Weather forecasts say that the temperature in Sa Pa will continue dipping, bringing heavy snow to the region in coming days.
