Japan-export opportunity for Vietnamese businesses

Update: 16-09-2011 | 00:00:00

A large number of food, electronics, construction materials, forestry, agriculture and fishery businesses gathered at the “Japan-Export Opportunities for Vietnamese Businesses" seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on September 15.

The seminar reviewed export trends and updated Vietnamese businesses on information about the Japanese market so they can grasp available business opportunities.

Japan, with more than 128 million people and a large consumer demand, is a potential market for Vietnamese businesses.

Vietnam’s exports to Japan have consistently increased, especially food, garments, timber products, and handicrafts.

To penetrate this market, Vietnamese businesses should gain a better understanding of its distribution network, business culture and customs to enable them to export suitable products.

Tadashi Kikuchi, economic attaché to the Japanese Consulate General in Vietnam, said Vietnamese businesses should focus on processed foods, fresh vegetables and fruit, utensils, plastics, ceramics, precious stones and rubber. These products must be high quality, well designed and meet food hygiene and safety standards.
