Japan to invest US$20.8 billion in Vietnam

In the first two months of 2011 Japan’s total registered investment capital in Vietnam has reached US$20.8 billion to rank third after Taiwan and the Republic of Korea, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA). 

Its investment was concentrated in 4 major cities and provinces, namely Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai which have a total of 910 projects capitalise at nearly US$8 billion.

Receiving US$3 billion Hanoi has overtaken Ho Chi Minh City to become the most attractive city for Japanese investors.

The Japanese External Trade Organisation (Jetro) said that in the coming time, Japan will focus its investment on distribution, retailing and heavy industry in Vietnam.
