Mr. Do Thanh Tuan is an exemplary disabled worker who overcomes difficulties at the company
To overcome adverse fates
In a group of skilled workers, many years of dedication to Trung Tre Co. Ltd., Mr. Do Thanh Tuan (from Can Tho), who is paralyzed in both legs, is a shining example in production labor and lifestyle for many other workers to learn and follow. Despite being disabled from a young age, Mr. Tuan never stops striving to learn and overcome his fate. And today, he has become a production workshop manager, entrusted with many important tasks by the company director's trust.
Graduating in accounting in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Tuan was introduced by an acquaintance to apply for a job at Trung Tre Co. Ltd. 12 years ago. Mr. Tam confided: "When I first started working at the company, I was very worried because of my poor health, afraid that I couldn't keep up with the work. While studying and working at the same time, with the wholehearted guidance of my seniors and my own efforts, I was able to handle the assigned tasks."
One positive point about Mr. Tuan that even Mr. Pham Hong Trung, Director of Trung Tre Co., Ltd., has to acknowledge is his diligence in work, constant pursuit of learning, and responsibility for his profession. As a worker, Mr. Tuan pays attention to every small detail in each product he makes, and then gradually advances to inspection and workshop management positions. Tuấn himself is also a dedicated person in conveying and providing thorough vocational training for disabled workers. For over 10 years, with his monthly income of about 12 million VND, Tuan not only takes good care of himself but also supports his parents in the countryside. He has saved a significant amount of money to buy a car together with his brother for business purposes outside.
Ms. Doan Thi Hien (from An Giang province), who lost her left arm after an accident over 10 years ago, found a new life when she was accepted into a new job. Sharing about herself, Ms. Hien shed tears as she revealed that she used to have a husband, but after the accident and becoming disabled, she was abandoned by her husband. Once made a living with various jobs from selling lottery tickets to selling water in front of the school gate, but still couldn't make ends meet. Thanks to a friend's introduction to a company, in a short period of time, she achieved an average salary of over 10 million VND per month. Now, she has a stable life with this income.
Life caring for working people
Established over 20 years ago, specializing in the production of bamboo skewers for seafood companies nationwide, Trung Tre Co., Ltd not only creates jobs and stable income for dozens of workers in the local area, but also provides vocational training and employment opportunities for many disabled workers within and outside the province. Mr. Pham Hong Trung said that the company always has 5-10 disabled workers. At peak times, the company has 20-30 disabled workers.
"All disabled workers, who face difficult circumstances when seeking employment at our company, are always provided with the best conditions. However, after a period of time, some people have accumulated enough capital to start their own businesses, some have started families, and some have returned to their hometowns with their parents, so the number of these workers fluctuates each year. Currently, we still welcome disabled individuals who want to work or learn a trade at our company," Mr. Trung shared.
To take care of the general welfare of workers and especially disabled workers, the company carries out various activities each year to ensure compliance with legal regulations regarding salary, bonuses, and insurance. In addition, the company provides monthly support for food, rent, attendance, and seniority. Just considering the support money alone, each worker receives over 1 million VND per month. For pregnant workers who unfortunately have accidents or become ill and need to be hospitalized and receive benefits according to the insurance regime, the company also provides additional expenses outside of insurance. During the sick leave, the company still pays full salary and allowances.
Mr. Pham Hong Trung, the center's representative, said: "We always consider the workers as family members. In addition to the provided benefits for the workers, the company also provides an additional support of 2 to 3 million VND per month for those facing difficulties or hardships. On holidays, Tet, birthdays etc., all workers in the company receive gifts."
In order to contribute to taking care of people in difficult circumstances in the local area, the company has also established the "Zero Dong Store" model right in front of the company's gate. This store always has over 10 essential products such as instant noodles, sugar, seasoning powder, cooking oil so that anyone who needs can come and take them. This can be seen as a meaningful volunteer activity, taking care of the lives of poor workers in the local area by the company. |
