Jogging program for labor safety

Update: 21-04-2010 | 00:00:00

In response to the International Day on Labour Safety and Hygiene, Better Work Vietnam will organize a jogging program for labor safety to raise awareness of labor safety among southern apparel factories in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park.

The event expects to lure around 2,000 participants, most of them are workers at industrial parks in HCM city, Binh Duong and Dong Nai.

Better Work Vietnam is a cooperation program between the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the International Financial Corporation (IFC) to help improve working conditions for more than 700,000 apparel workers in Vietnam. The program pays attention to labor safety, which is seen as a key element in improving workers’ lives.

In 2009 alone, there were 6,421 workers suffering from labor accidents reported in Vietnam, including 550 dead people and 1,221 with serious injuries.
