Nguyen The Tung Lam, Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Branch Office under Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said: “The Provincial Environment Award includes six areas: State management; education and training, communication; research and application of science and technology; prevent and minimize negative impacts on the environment; protect and rationally use natural resources, conserve biodiversity; implementation of green growth strategies and response to climate change. Participants are also expanded from individuals to organizations and communities.
In 2023, Provincial People's Committee decided to present awards to 17 organizations, individuals and communities. This is a worthy award recognizing and honoring the positive contributions of outstanding individuals, organizations and communities, contributing to raising community awareness of environmental protection.

Dinh San Ha, a resident of My Phuoc ward in Ben Cat town, was honored with an individual award for implementing many practices, such as waste treatment, designing load-bearing manhole covers, and covering manholes to minimize odors, said: “I was very excited to receive the award. My biggest wish is to replicate the model so that everyone can join hands and raise awareness about preserving environmental hygiene."
As the only enterprise to receive a collective environmental award, Pungkook Saigon 2 Company is one of the pioneers in environmental protection and response to climate change. The company has produced orders for backpacks, suitcases, and handbags using recycled materials. A representative of Pungkook Saigon 2 Company said that they will continue to raise awareness and train employees on environmental protection and reduce the amount of plastic waste. The only community award was also given to residents of the West Quarter, Vinh Phu Ward, Thuan An City. According to provincial leaders, individuals, organizations and communities that have received awards continue to have excellent performance and contribute regularly and continuously to the province's environmental protection cause. Practices and innovative ideas for products of environmental protection have been applied and replicated to promote and raise awareness and call for organizations, individuals, businesses and communities to actively involve in this program, facilitating sustainable socio-economic development.
In order for the Environmental Award to continue becoming an address to recognize and honor organizations, individuals, and communities that have made great contributions in terms of effort and intelligence to the environmental protection cause, Mai Hung Dung asked all levels, branches, associations, unions and people to continue to further research and implement new, effective models and scientific and technological advances in environmental protection activities. On that basis, to discover and introduce organizations, individuals and communities with outstanding achievements in environmental protection for honoring and rewarding.

Through six organization times from 2015 until now, a total of 93 individuals, organizations and communities (11 communities, 40 organizations, 42 individuals) have received awards. In the coming time, relevant units need to increase widely disseminate the purpose, meaning, principles, and conditions for the award to organizations, individuals, and communities in the province. Thereby, more qualified individuals, organizations, and communities are encouraged to participate in the donation, becoming a driving force for good implementation of environmental protection work in the following years.
