For many years now, the work of taking care of poor households, policy families and other social groups having difficult situations on Lunar New Year has always received attention from Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front and member organizations in Dau Tieng district. With the desire to help everyone and every family celebrate a more joyful, warm and complete traditional Tet, Dau Tieng district is currently actively mobilizing resources to carry out activities to care for policy and social protection groups in the district.

Vu Thi My Nhung's family in Hoa Hiep hamlet, Minh Hoa commune, is one of the households having difficult circumstances and was supported by Dau Tieng district to build a new house in 2023. Nhung has a difficult situation when it comes to making a living. She raises three children under 10 years old by herself by selling lottery tickets. Due to difficult conditions and unstable income, Vu Thi My Nhung's family has lived in rented accommodation for many years and has not been able to build a house. The dream of having a sturdy house to protect from bad weather is something that Nhung and her children have never thought of.

Understanding the difficult situation of Nhung's family, Fatherland Front Committee of Dau Tieng district and Minh Hoa commune mobilized benefactors to build her family a simple house with an area of 54m2 with a cost of VND100 million. On the day she received her new, spacious house, Vu Thi My Nhung was happy and shared: “I am very grateful to the local government and sponsors who care about my family. This year's Tet is the warmest Tet in my life. The new house is the motivation for me to always try and work hard to take good care of my family."

Not only Nhung's family, in the past year, agencies, unions and localities of Dau Tieng district have mobilized cooperation and companionship from organizations and individuals to support many poor families. As implementing the national target poverty reduction program, in recent years, Dau Tieng district has effectively carried out sustainable poverty reduction policies and solutions. As a result, people's lives gradually improved, the rate of poor households was reduced. In 2023, the number of poor households in the district decreased by 56 households. The current number of poor households in the entire district according to the province's poverty standard is 452 households, accounting for 1.26%; The number of near-poor households is 303 households, accounting for 0.84%.

Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of Dau Tieng District People's Committee, said that in recent times, the Party Committee and district authorities have continued to effectively implement the national target program on poverty reduction to improve the lives of poor and near-poor households, towards poverty reduction and sustainable social security. Warm and meaningful houses have added joy and optimism to help people escape poverty, build increasingly prosperous and full lives and fulfill their desire to "settle down and have a stable career". The attention of the Party, the State, local community and the timely and effective implementation of policies have contributed to social security work in the district.

A warm, caring spring

Lunar New Year Giap Thin 2024 is approaching. These days, the Party Committee, authorities, departments and unions of Dau Tieng district are developing plans to mobilize resources to create conditions for the poor and policy beneficiaries to enjoy spring and a warm Tet. In the spirit of sharing love, in the last days of the year, activities of visiting and giving gifts to families under preferential treatment policies, people with meritorious services to the revolution, poor households, children having difficult circumstances... have been taking place everywhere in the district. From December 2023, Party committees and authorities at all levels in the district planned to allocate funds and organize specific activities on Tet festival to take care of people, especially poor households and policy families, victims of Agent Orange...

Accordingly, the District People's Committee coordinated with the District Office of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to hold a list of poor, near-poor households and policy beneficiaries in need of support in the district; called on businesses and individual benefactors to help and give gifts in many practical forms to policy households and poor households during Tet to create conditions for the beneficiaries to happily celebrate the Lunar New Year.

“The Lunar New Year is approaching, care activities have shown the concern of the Party and State's policies towards policy subjects, people with meritorious services, social subjects, and people have disadvantaged. Visiting groups in the district will be done solemnly, economically, effectively, in accordance with cultural lifestyle and in accordance with regulations", Nguyen Thanh Tung added.

We hope that the community's cooperation and contribution will contribute to bringing meaningful gifts to the poor and policy beneficiaries of Dau Tieng district. From there, difficulties will be eased and they can gradually improve their lives. Above all, the cooperation, contribution, and support of the whole community has affirmed the good traditions of our nation.

During the Lunar New Year 2024, Dau Tieng district plans to take care of more than 17,000 people with meritorious services, social objects, children having difficult circumstances, and workers far from home with a total of more than 22 billion VND from budget and socialization sources.
