Join hands to prevent and combat antibiotic resistance in agriculture

Update: 09-12-2023 | 10:46:05

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recently held a rally calling on all parties to join hands in preventing and combating antibiotic resistance in agriculture. Accordingly, the main topic is "Mobilizing public-private cooperation in preventing and combating antibiotic resistance in livestock", responding to the call of the World Health Organization on "Joining hands to prevent and combat antibiotic resistance".

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also issued Decision No. 3609 approving the national action plan on antibiotic resistance control in the agricultural sector for the period 2021-2025. Most recently, the Prime Minister approved the National Strategy on drug resistance prevention and control in Vietnam for the period 2023-2030, with a vision to 2045. Even though it has been implementing an action plan on antibiotic resistance, Vietnam continues to be among the countries with the highest rate of antibiotic use in Asia. Experts say that when used improperly, antibiotics can promote the development of drug-resistant microorganisms, which then affect humans through direct contact or through the food chain or discharged into the environment.
