Joint efforts to construct new rural areas

In recent years, members and farmers in the province have been trying their best to carry out practical works and tasks to jointly build up a new countryside.

Land donated for roads

In response to the movement of joining hands to build a new countryside, Nguyen Huynh Thanh, owner of Huynh Thanh farm in Tan Dinh commune of Bac Tan Uyen district is one of the first households to voluntarily take the lead in donating farming lands for road making in the hamlet. In 2011, when the State had a policy to build and expand rural roads to create more favorable conditions for serving people and transporting goods, Thanh did not hesitate to spend VND 400 million to work on a road of 6km long. In 2015 and 2018, he continued to spend more than VND 500 million VND repair and dredge inter-village roads. Not stopping with those, he also donated more than 1.3 hectares of farming land to build rural roads and restore roads for civil services.

Like Thanh, many farmers in Bau Bang district have actively participated in patriotic emulations by concentrating on the movement of farmers emulating good production and business operations, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, Chairwoman of the Association of Farmers of Bau Bang district, said: “For the movement of farmers emulating new rural construction, farmers in the district during the last term voluntarily contributed 567 working days renewing and repairing the 38km long rural roads, solidifying canals and sewers on a length of 7km, supporting works with an amount of more than VND 1.2 billion, mobilizing farmer members to donate 17,850m2 of land and 2,737 crops, implementing the model of collecting domestic wastes, collecting bottles and jars of plant protection drugs, etc. Members and farmers have actively contributed to the completion of the task of building a new countryside with the locality.

The environmental protection

Implementing the national pivotal program on building new rural areas in the province, associations at all levels have actively propagated and mobilized farmers to participate in the implementation of criteria, donate lands, and working days to build new rural areas, rural roads, schools, rural markets, hamlet offices and other cultural institutions. For the campaign of "All people uniting to build new countryside and urban centers of culture", cadres and members of farmers at the grassroots level have been very active in participating in specific activities such as building civilized urban roads, model roads, garbage-free neighborhoods, civilized and commercial markets, planting and taking care of trees and flower beds.

At the same time, the Standing Committee of the provincial Association of Farmers also issued a plan for the Association to participate in protecting the rural environment and adapting to climate changes in 2021-2025 with many practical activities in the localities, to coordinate with the natural resources - environment sector to organize communication to raise awareness about rural environmental protection, to participate in building models of farmers to protect the environment at opportunistic establishments. Up to now, 100% of associations have models of farmers participating in rural environmental protection according to regulations, meeting the targets set by the resolution.

Concretizing emulations with many practical programs and activities, the Associations Farmers at all levels in the province have been promoting the role of farmers as subjects in building new rural areas, gradually improving their living standards as well as spiritual life for its members, actively contributing to the implementation of the criteria for building a new countryside in the locality.
