Laborers waiting eagerly for new wage level

Since Jan. 1, 2015, the Government’s Decree No. 103/ 2014/ ND-CP on regional minimum wage level will take effect.

Laborers are waiting for new wage level.

 This means laborers across the province will enjoy more joy to prepare for welcoming New Year 2015.

Though regional minimum wage level will increase additional 15% (from VND250,000 to 400,000 per month), it will be a great joy for wage-earners, especially, in the context of decrease of petrol price.

Nguyen Ha Linh from the Northern province of Thai Binh working at Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park shared “with the new wage level, I have more income to help my parents prepare for the coming Lunar New Year 2015”. Similarly, Pham Y Nhi from the Delta province of Hau Giang working at Dong An industrial park said that with the present wage, most of laborers have to tighten their belt. Therefore, once the regional minimum wage level takes effect, everyone feels happy because they can have more an amount of saving money.

In order to help enterprises implement regulations of the regional minimum wage level, the provincial Labor Union steered districts, towns and Thu Dau Mot city, trade union at all levels to inspect implementation of the 2015 regional minimum wage level.

In addition, when implementing the new wage level, enterprises are not allowed to cut salaries of extra working hours of laborers while allowances, bonuses must be implemented on labor contracts, collective labor agreements or corporate regulations and more.

Until now, many companies have completed wage sheets. Tran Dinh Thap, chairman of Lim Yee Company’s grassroot trade union in Song Than 2 industrial park said that the company grassroot trade union has cooperated with employers to disseminate and inform laborers adjustment of wage. Simultaneously, grassroot trade union of the company has grasped and timely solved petitions, queries and suggestions of laborers, not to occur conflicts of wage, triggering collective labor disputes. Notably, the regulation of regional minimum wage level is implemented seriously by the company directorate. Additionally, the company issued an official announcement on increasing VND400,000 per capita per month for workforce. With this increase, laborers of the company are very excited.

Meanwhile, Do Van Minh, chairman of the Tung Shin Industry Co.Ltd. in Song Than 2 industrial park revealed “the company grassroot trade union discussed the company directorate the new wage increase and received response from the directorate. Overall, laborers of the company are very happy with the wage increase. They are looking forward to enjoying the wage increase”.

According to Decree No.103/2014/ND-CP, Binh Duong is in the region I and II. Specifically, Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An town, Ben Cat town, Tan Uyen town, Di An town, Bau Bang district and North Tan Uyen district belong to the region I with the minimum wage level of VND3.1mil.

In the meantime, Dau Tieng district and Phu Giao district are in the region II with the minimum wage level of VND2,750,000. However, for laborers under vocational training course, their minimum wage level must be at least 7% higher than the regional minimum wage level. Particularly, VND3,317,000 is for the region I and VND2,942,500 for region II.
