Lai Ly Huynh wins bronze medal at 2014 national Xiangqi champs for strong players

The 2014 National Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) Championship has just kicked off in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

This year’s tournament has absorbed 56 players from 10 cities and provinces with the country’s strongest chess movement, including HCM city, Binh Duong, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau…Among them, there are 6 from Binh Duong, namely Lai Ly Huynh, Dao Cao Khoa, Bui Duong Tran, Diep Khai Hang, Tran Quoc Viet and Nguyen Hoang Lam.

Players at the tournament will race for 4 sets of medals in the events: men’s blitz chess, women’s blitz chess, men’s standard chess and women’s standard chess.

Finally, Lai Ly Huynh of Binh Duong won a bronze medal in the men’s blitz event with 6.5 scores after 9 games. Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang of HCM city grasped a gold medal while Lai Tuan Anh of Ha Noi pocketed a silver medal in this event.

In the women’s blitz event, gold, silver and bronze medals went to Nguyen Hoang Yen of HCM city, Le Thi Kim Loan of Ha Noi and Dam Thi Thuy Dung of HCM city, respectively.

Yesterday, April 22, players at the tournament entered the 7th game in the women and men’s standard events.
