Founded in 1982 with the name of Export Foam Sandal Factory, the factory has gradually expanded and developed into the multi-field corporation (Protrade) with numerous fruits. All of these achievements are thanks to direct instruction and care from the provincial party committee and the provincial People’s Committee plus motivation, creation and high responsibility of the corporate directorate. Acknowledging these gigantic achievements, the State President granted the title of Labor Heroic to the corporation on its 32nd founding anniversary.

  Palm Song Be Golf Company, a famous sport brand name, is the membership company of Protrade.

 

Cooperation for development

 

Implementing the instruction of investment attraction in line with the trend of clean industry and hi-tech usage, Binh Duong Production-Import-Export Corporation (Protrade) and Ascendas Corporation have co-built the 500ha, VND1,335bil Ascendas Protrade hi-tech area at An Tay commune, Ben Cat town.

 

Ascendas – the group of Singapore – has many experiences in investing and trading infrastructure facilities of industrial parks in many countries. Until now, the Ascendas Protrade hi-tech area has completed its first phase construction on the area of 150ha and lured a large number of projects from Japan, Taiwan, the EU and US. It is expected that the first phase’s area will be tenanted by the end of 2nd quarter of 2015.

 

In addition, Protrade and YCH Singapore Corporation, specializing in logistics, launched joint venture to set up YCH-Protrade Joint Venture Company. The joint venture company has put into use a 20,000sqm logistics area and prepared for building the second phase.

 

Moreover, Protrade in partnership with the Netherlands partner set up Foremost Company in 1993 then renamed into Ha Lan Dairy Company in 1994. The joint venture company has presently had more than US$200mil in investment capital. The company has possessed 2 diary factories in Binh Duong and Ha Nam provinces. The company’s total turnover reached nearly US$6bil from 1996 to 2013. Aside from placing steady jobs for more than 1,500 laborers with high income (over VND18mil per capita per month), the company has participated in social charity activities such as building schools, granting scholarships, medical facilities and counseling healthcare for people in many localities. Particularly, the program of developing dairy cow herds has contributed to improve living standard of more than 4,000 farmers nationwide.

 

A strong internal force

 

Founded in 1993, Palm Song Be Golf Company under Protrade has had desert courses with 27 holes and a hi-class resort. Protrade has bravely upheld its strength and role in managing Palm Song Be Golf Company with more than 700 laborers. As of early 2014, Palm Song Be Golf Company paid more than VND300bil to the State budget.

 

Implementing the instruction of re-structure and privatization, Protrade has continued upholding membership companies’ advantages. Binh Duong Apparel One-member Co. Ltd. has specialized in producing apparel items for export to the US, EU and Japan. From 2009 to 2013, the company’s export turnover was at approximately US$200mil. Meanwhile, Hung Vuong JSC specializing in manufacturing and trading timber products for export to Japan reaps more than US$25mil per year in export sale.

 

Huynh Cong Phat, chief of Protrade said “The membership companies’ important task is to enhance competition and quality of products, maintain traditional markets by their internal force and attraction. Viet-Lao Dau Tieng Rubber project alone has reached many successes not only                     in economy but in solidarity between Vietnam and Laos”.

 

Role of leadership

 

After 32 years of construction and development, from a little factory, Protrade has developed into Binh Duong province’s leading company. Nguyen Van Minh, general director of Protrade reminisced “Under leadership of the Party, Protrade’s trade union and youth union have been established since the end of 1982. Right from the early period of inception, the unions’ executive boards mobilized youths and unionists and laborers to repair roads, build collective houses, install machines, learn technique of rubber and foam sandal making and so on. Only one year later, the company’s products were exported to foreign markets”.

 

After the main mission was in steady, the company’s trade union and youth union expedited a task of taking care of laborers’ material and spiritual life. In 1984, about 100% of employees and cadres of the factory enjoyed excursions to famous tourism sites. In 1986, more than one ha of land was for building collective houses, collective kitchens and kindergarten. All of these good deeds are for laborers’ life.

 

Especially, all of these activities have created a long attachment between laborers and Protrade directorate.
