Le Viet Viet Trung and his heart for cinema viewers in Binh Duong

Update: 14-04-2010 | 00:00:00

Le Viet Viet Trung has become more concerned and indebted to cinema viewers in Binh Duong province in his 16 years staying with his job from an electricity technician to a projectionist for Binh Minh Cinema.

I met him in the middle of April and the heat was almost 36 or 37 degrees of the Celsius when he was carefully fixing up parts of broken 35mm film. The heat was more with the 3kw/h projector of 35-mm motion pictures. From the other side through a tiny hole was his viewers who can enjoy the film with air-conditions and soft seats.

“I love my job. One day off is just like something bad running in me. A motion picture projectionist should be indulged and devoted to it,” said Mr. Trung.

In 1995, he graduated and applied to Binh Duong Cinema and Publishing Company for his qualification of electronics. He could earn a living in the 1990s for video tapes were so popular that time and he is responsible for making copies for the company. However, things were going down by the year 2000 when the market was hit by spreading pirated media.

It was strange that he could stay on after 16 years with the equipments and the heat in the small attic.

In recent 3 years, the cinema has gradually been attracting more viewers by Vietnamese movies. In his own experience, Mr. Trung said that Binh Duong viewers actually prefer Vietnamese movies for whatever Vietnamese film is shown; viewers will be packed up in the hall. Every week, he preserves his two or three occasions searching for new films in Ho Chi Minh City. He would sign memorandums with a few film-makers to release their products to Binh Minh cinema later own.

That was the reason why many well-known Vietnamese movies were ready for service.
