Learning, following uncle Ho combined with new rural construction

In order for “Learning and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" to spread widely and deeply in daily life of Party members and the masses, Bach Dang commune Party Committee in Tan Uyen town has combined learning and following with practical models bringing benefits to local people. 

Practical models

Since Bach Dang bridge was finished, life of local people has changed. Bach Dang is not a separate island anymore. At night, street lights are everywhere on new constructed roads. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hau, a worker living in the commune, said: “Previously, when there were no street lights, I was afraid of working overtime. Although I know that people here are good-natured ones, I was a bit nervous. But since having street lights, I have not worried anymore, despite working overtime”. 

Mr. Huynh Van Thanh, Chairman of Bach Dang commune Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: “In order for “Learning and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" to spread widely and deeply, each unit was assigned to build a pilot model associated with new rural construction. Due to people’s need, commune Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee developed project of installing lights for new rural constructed roads. From the key model implemented at Binh Hung hamlet with the participation of 30 households, this model has been replicated in the whole commune with 354 participating households, reaching almost 50% of all households in the front of roads up to now.

Mr. Huynh Van Thanh, Chairman of Bach Dang commune Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: “Now streetlights are everywhere even on small paths”.

Mr. Thanh said: “We encouraged and people to hang 18W compact lamps in front of their house. Every participating household was supported VND100,000 to buy lamp and wires. They pay their monthly electric bill. Realizing the usefulness of the model, more households took part in the movement. We will continue propaganda to achieve high rate of participants”.

Another meaningful model is the model of environmental sanitation of commune Women's Union. According to Ms. Trinh Thi Kim So, Chairwoman of commune Women's Union, the union has implemented many movements, such as: registering model roads undertaken by communes, hamlets unions; sanitating the environmental, and especially, establishing the Green House club. The club was founded in August 2011 with 30 members concentrated in Dieu Hoa hamlet.

The club had one meeting quarterly to propagate contents involving children and women, family violence prevention, social evils... Now, the club has 40 members, propaganda contents are surveyed to women in many forms. Female members also make the commitment to bringing up and educating well their children, sanitating voluntarily their houses, surrounding environment… Member Huynh Thi Thu Hong said: “The club’s criterion “5 no, 3 clean” are goals that each family strive for. I think that the club's activities is practical, not only women but also men have taken part in…”

Walk the talk

In the last 4 years, Bach Dang commune has been considered as an example model of the movement Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh. Commune Party Committee Secretary Phan Thi Ngoc Hoa said, apart from guiding the implementation of Directive 03, the commune brought out practical models in line with feelings and aspirations of the people. Namely, cadres registered propaganda models, like: All people uniting to build cultural life in residential areas, All people protect national security... Local Red Cross had the model of "Rice Jar of love" to help unfortunate people to overcome difficulties... Grassroots-level units have encouraged the mass to participate in new rural construction, protect environmental hygiene…

After 4 years, each cadre and Party member has the obvious changes in thinking, perception and professional work, demonstrating a sense of responsibility, the attitude of serving the people, expressing the pioneering, exemplary role in performing tasks and maintaining ethical lifestyle following uncle Ho.  

“In order for “Learning and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" to spread widely and deeply, the important thing is to upholding the exemplary role of leadership, cadres. Each cadre and Party member has to be close to the people, understand the heart, the desire of people; trust, respect, listen to people and solve the people's legitimate petitions; listening, ameliorating defects to serve better the people”, said Ms. Hoa.
