Local co-operatives develop strongly

Update: 09-04-2012 | 00:00:00

Co-operative economy in Binh Duong has remarkably contributed to local socio-economic development. In 2011 and the 1st quarter of 2012 alone, collective economy was still maintained and developed.

  The provincial Co-operative Alliance’s leaders pay a survey to a newly-established co-operative.

Could you tell more about local co-operatives’ efficient operation over years?

Among 109 co-operatives, the province has 29 transport co-operatives, 16 agriculture co-operatives, 16 handicraft co-operatives, 13 construction co-operatives, 25 trade co-operatives and 10 people’s credit funds. In 2011, the co-operatives’ turnover reached nearly 2,000bil. Of this, 10 peoples’ credit funds showed the most efficient operation among other co-operatives. The total outstanding loan of credit funds won over VND579bil. The credit funds offered capital sources for many small and medium businesses, households to develop production and business.

Possibly speaking, these co-operatives have positively joined in many social and charity movements at all levels. For example, An Thanh, DI An, Hiep Thanh and Phu Tho People’s Credit Funds and so on directly built 4 hi-unity houses each worth over VND20mil to the poor whilst Phu Hoa People’s Credit Fund donated 48 scholarships worth over VND14mil to the local disadvantaged talent students in the 2011-2012 school year. In addition, Nhut Hung Rubber Co-operative, Lai Thieu People’s Credit Fund and so on contributed over VND900mil to local social funds.

Could you tell about the provincial Co-operative Alliance’s role in orientating for its branches?

Over years, the provincial Co-operative Alliance has launched implementation of central and local instructions. Accordingly, the unit has implemented some key contents of organizing anniversaries of Vietnam Co-operative Day, mapping out plans of a 10-year summing up implementation of 5th central resolution (9th term) on collective economy.

Besides, the Alliance has reinforced operation of the Center for Co-operative Consultancy and Assistance, trained and fostered for heads of cooperatives as well as issued bulletins of economy.

What orientation and operation will the alliance set out in the coming time?

The local co-operative has developed strongly and synchronously but there remain shortcomings. The alliance will therefore keep developing collective economic models, improving capacity of the existing cooperatives, cooperating with localities to offer legal consultancies and set up new cooperatives. We will launch goals, emulation movements to find out and expand typical cooperatives as well as spur struggles against corruption, waste and thrift practice in the entire system and membership units.
