Despite difficulties and challenges caused by inflation, the local socio-economic situation in the first half of this year won positive changes, assuring social welfare… The statement was set out at the second session of the 8th provincial People’s Council.
Industry surges with low rate
The provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Tran Van Nam, said industrial production met with obstacles of inflation, increase on interest rates, power cut in the early months of this year. Solving the difficulties, the province timely launched effective solutions to help businesses maintain their production and business.

As a result, local industrial production value reached over VND52bil, a 17.5% rise from the same period last year. Of this, the State economic sector surged 8%, non-State economic sector increased 18.8% and foreign sector 17.3%.
Notably, the province issued a program on price stability for essential items with the total value of VND608bil. Besides, local export turnover surged 19.5%, import revenue jumped 35.1% and FDI attraction reached nearly US$445mil…
However, growth of industrial production value remained low from the set plan. In the final half of this year, the province will focus on setting out measures to excel the remaining goals.

In the final half of this year, the province will strengthen trade promotion, marketing, export market expansion and set out concrete measures to enhance provincial competition index, excel measures of inflation control, encourage economic sectors to invest in social housing and excel policies of social welfare…
Assurance on social welfare
According to regulations on the provincial new poverty line for the 2011-2016 period, the province has 115 poor households under the central poverty line and 10,767 needy families under provincial poverty line.
Since the start of this year, the locality has supported power expense of VND30,000/household/month and unexpected assistance of VND250,000/family for disadvantaged households. Besides, the locality has exempted and decreased land usage tax for 78 cases, implemented policies for the poor with the total expense of over VND75bil.
In addition, Binh Duong has earmarked over VND103bil and mobilized people to grant 31 gratitude houses, 156 hi-unity houses and 85 saving books for poor households with the total value of about VND6.4bil.
The results will be a foundation for the locality to mobilize all sources and set out key measures for completion of targets in the final half of this year.
