Local economy reaches stable growth with social welfare ensured

The first working day of the 7th session of the 9th People’s Council for the 2016-2021 tenure took place yesterday, July 11, in attendance of Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation; Pham Van Canh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Thanh Liem, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee and leaders of sectors, departments in the province.

Economic growth 

Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that the province’s GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) growth rate in the first half of 2018 was at 7%. Of these, industrial production-construction rose by 8.2%; services by 5.3%; agro-forestry-fisheries by 3.5%. The province’s index of industrial production surged 8.9% compared to the corresponding period last year. More than VND2.1trillion was spent on building infrastructure facilities, workshops at province-based industrial parks (Ips) or 60% of the year’s plan. Province-based Ips also absorbed US$593million in FDI capital or 82.5% of the province’s FDI capital…

The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services during the period was estimated at more than VND92.21trillion, up 17% compared to the same period last year. The province’s 6-month consumption price index surged 2.57% against the corresponding period last year. The province’s export turnover continued going up with trade surplus reaching US$2.5billion. Particularly, export turnover was estimated at US$11.2billion, up 16.7% while import value was US$8.7billion, up 17.1%. The whole province has so far had a total of 46 communes and 2 districts recognized as new rural ones.

For development investment, he said that the province’s total investment capital for social development was estimated at more than VND33.27trillion, a year-on-year increase of 11.1%. As of June 30, more than VND1.8trillion was spent on basic construction or 21.1% of the year’s plan. The province also absorbed more than VND28.92trillion in domestic capital. So far, there have been 33,548 domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of more than VND266.13trillion. For FDI capital, the province attracted additional US$854million or 61% of the year’s plan. Thus, the province has to date lured 3,397 FDI enterprises with a total registered capital of US$30.96billion.

Social welfare ensured

Over the past six months, the province continued paying more attention to social welfare with policies for policy beneficiaries, revolutionary contributors, poor people and laborers implemented opportunely. The province spent VND439billion on taking care of revolutionary contributors and other social welfare activities.

Provincial People’s Committee also took synchronous solutions in public healthcare, organized festivals, paid attention to building cultural institutions to serve workers…The province’s job introduction and vocational orientation gained 55.2% of the year’s plan. The quality of the province’s education and training continued being improved. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the number of education facilities in the province surged 37 compared to the previous academic year. The rate of public schools meeting national standards was 67.84%.

Such these apart, the province well realized dissemination of information about the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws; promoted tourism development via organizing and participating in cultural-sports and tourism activities; strengthened sci-tech application in State administration…
